Gunnar Henderson Taking A Seat Friday
1 year agoBaltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson will get the day off on Friday against the visiting Boston Red Sox after the team clinched the American League East title on Thursday night. Jorge Mateo will start at the 6 and hit ninth for the O's against Red Sox right-hander Nick Pivetta. Ramon Urias is playing the hot corner and is hitting in the eight-hole. In his first full major-league season, Henderson has really impressed, hitting .257/.326/.492 with an .818 OPS, 28 home runs, 28 doubles, nine triples, 82 RBI, 10 stolen bases and 99 runs scored in 614 trips to the plate over 148 games for the first-place Orioles. The 22-year-old will continue on as the regular shortstop for Baltimore into the postseason next week.
