Gleyber Torres Out Again Thursday
4 years agoNew York Yankees shortstop Gleyber Torres will miss his second straight game on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Rays after sitting out on Wednesday out of "an abundance of caution," according to sources. The Yankees have had seven cases of COVID-19 among their coaching and support staff, and the Yankees are waiting for the league to review the results of Torres' testing. Pitching coach Matt Blake, third base coach Phil Nevin and first base coach Reggie Willits have tested positive for the virus, but six of the seven that have tested positive are asymptomatic. The good news is that Torres isn't dealing with any sort of injury, so he should return to the lineup shortly as long as he doesn't test positive. Torres is hitting a disappointing .234/.326/.298 with a homer and 10 RBI on the season.
