German Marquez Goes On IL, Rockies Recall Nolan Jones
2 years agoThe Colorado Rockies placed starting pitcher German Marquez (forearm) on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday with a right forearm injury and recalled infielder/outfielder Nolan Jones from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Marquez doesn't have any structural damage in his arm, so he should come off the IL when eligible. Colorado's ace has made three starts this year and has allowed eight runs on 13 hits (three home runs allowed) while walking only two and striking out 13 in 16 1/3 innings pitched. Like most of the team's pitchers, he's best used as a streamer on the road. Jones, the team's No. 17 prospect per MLB Pipeline, already had six home runs and 14 RBI at Triple-A before his call-up, but it's unclear if he'll see enough playing time in Colorado to warrant fantasy attention outside of NL-only leagues.
