Framber Valdez Wins Third Straight Start
4 years agoHouston Astros starter Framber Valdez allowed only one earned run through seven strong innings pitched in the team's 14-3 win over the Twins on Sunday. Valdez (3-0) struck out only two but held the Twins to five hits on a day when the Astros offense pounced all over Minnesota pitching. Valdez may be a late arrival to the regular season but he has been fantastic through his first four starts. The left-handed starter has held opponents to a .185 batting average combined with a 0.95 WHIP and a 1.42 ERA. The strikeouts may not have been on display in this performance but Valdez is averaging almost one punch-out per inning. Valdez is worth a look in deeper formats for this next start.
