Dylan Crews Taking Dry Swings
Dylan Crews (oblique) took some "light, dry swings" on Thursday, per manager Dave Martinez. It is the first reported baseball activity since the 23-year-old hit the injured list with a strained oblique back on May 21. No definitive timeline has been provided, but it's looking like the former second-overall draft pick may be out until at least the All-Star break. The LSU product got off to a rough start this season, going 5-for-47 (.106) with zero extra-base hits and 18 strikeouts (36.7 percent K%) over his first 13 games, however, had picked it up somewhat before the injury, going 26-for-111 (.234) with seven home runs and 30 strikeouts (24.2 percent K%) over his next 32 games. The youngster also stole 11 bases before hitting the IL. With some good pop and speed to go with it, Crews should be held onto in an IL spot until his return.
