David Sandlin Tosses Season-High Seven Innings
David Sandlin tossed seven shutout innings on Thursday against Double-A Altoona. This was the first time this season Sandlin logged seven innings of work in a single outing. In this start, the right-hander allowed just three hits and one walk. He struck out eight. This was also his second-straight outing in which he did not allow an earned run. Through 43 innings of work this season at Double-A Portland, Sandlin has posted a 3.77 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP. He has struck out 45 batters and allowed 12 walks. Last season, the No. 8-ranked prospect in the system posted a high 5.61 ERA with a 1.44 WHIP across his first 25 2/3 innings at the Double-A level. If Sandlin continues to find his footing, he should be in the mix to earn the call to Triple-A in the coming months.
