Chuba Hubbard A Safe RB2 Play in Week 1
Chuba Hubbard is poised to build on a successful 2024 campaign in which he finished with 1,195 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, along with 43 receptions for 171 yards and one score. His Week 1 matchup is against a Jacksonville Jaguars team that surrendered a league-worst 2,254 rushing yards. However, a deeper look reveals a slightly different picture. The Jaguars' run defense was a league-average unit on a per-carry basis, allowing just 4.4 yards per attempt and surrendering zero rushes over 40 yards. The key question for fantasy managers is how much of a workload Hubbard will carry in 2025. The Panthers did sign Rico Dowdle, who also eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark last season for the Cowboys. While Dowdle poses a threat, Hubbard is the clear lead back. Given his past production and the favorable matchup, Hubbard can be safely played as a high-end RB2 in Week 1.
