Christopher Tanev Leaves on Stretcher Saturday
Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Christopher Tanev (upper body) was stretchered off the ice in Saturday's matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers. He was involved in a collision with Flyers forward Matvei Michkov in the third period, which left Tanev lying face down on the ice. Michkov was called for an interference penalty on the play. On Saturday, Tanev was playing his first game since missing four contests with a concussion and collected an assist in a 5-2 road win. Fortunately, it seems he avoided a serious injury. "He's moving and I think he'll be all right, but he's getting some tests done right now, so we'll know more in a little while," Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube said after Tanev was taken to a local hospital. Philippe Myers is likely to rejoin the Maple Leafs lineup if Tanev must miss time.
