Chargers Signing Nyheim Hines for More Backfield Depth
Nyheim Hines to their practice squad on Tuesday after working him out, a source told Kris Rhim of ESPN. Hines was with the Chargers during training camp in the summer, so he has some familiarity with their offense already. He will have a chance to serve as the team's RB3 in Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins behind Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal. Najee Harris (Achilles) is already out for the year, and now rookie first-rounder Omarion Hampton (ankle) will have to miss at least four games after being put on Injured Reserve. The 28-year-old Hines hasn't played in an NFL game since 2022 with the Indianapolis Colts and Buffalo Bills due to several knee injuries. He has mostly helped as a pass-catcher out of the backfield in his five-year NFL career, but for now, he can be ignored in most fantasy leagues.
