Buccaneers Expected To Fire Byron Leftwich
2 years agoThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to fire offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich after their season-ending 31-14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night in the wild-card game. The move has been anticipated for some time. The Bucs generated 386 yards of total offense against Dallas, but only ran for 52 yards and scored 14 points. Despite averaging 18.4 points per game (ranked 25th) in the regular season, the Buccaneers won the NFC South division. Leftwich was the team's play-caller since 2019 and helped lead the team to a Super Bowl win in 2020 in quarterback Tom Brady's first season with the team. Tampa's offense ranked second in the league with 30.8 points per game in 2020, and they averaged 29.9 points per game in 2021 (second). Their ground game ranked last in the NFL in 2022, averaging just 76.9 yards per game.
