Brandon Nimmo Sitting Against Southpaw On Monday
6 months agoNew York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo is getting the day off on Monday for the start of a series against the Washington Nationals in D.C. with a left-hander on the mound. With Nimmo on the bench, Jeff McNeil is making the start in left field and is batting ninth against Nationals left-hander MacKenzie Gore. It's a good day to get Nimmo off his feet, as he came into this one having started each of the team's last 15 games. Although McNeil is hitting .857 in seven career at-bats against Gore with a 1.732 OPS, he's struggled at the plate all year and won't be a popular addition to DFS lineups on Monday against a southpaw. The left-handed-hitting Nimmo has hit .256 (21-for-82) against lefties this year with only three of his 13 home runs. UPDATE: Nimmo slipped in his hotel room on Sunday night and got a gash on his head. He was hospitalized until Monday but doesn't have a concussion, according to manager Carlos Mendoza.
