Chicago Bears rookie linebacker Roquan Smith (hamstring) is progressing from his strained left hamstring, and the team remains hopeful that he will play in Week 1 against the Packers. Smith had a 29-day holdout in training camp and then hurt his hamstring in his sixth practice on Aug. 21. The rookie has yet to practice in pads at full speed, so there remain questions about his endurance and mental readiness. As a result, Smith could open the year playing in certain packages until he proves he's ready for a bigger workload. Smith was a favorite to be an IDP Rookie of the Year pick, but things have changed. He's still worth a roster spot, but he shouldn't be started in Week 1.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
