Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews recorded a goal and an assist in the team's comeback victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night, turning a three-goal deficit into a 4-3 win. This marked only the third time in franchise history that the Maple Leafs have won a game in regulation after trailing by three goals in the final frame. Matthews scored the first goal of the comeback and provided an assist on Toronto's third goal, which tied the game with less than seven minutes remaining in the third period. In 2025-26, Matthews has been quiet by his standards. However, he's now scored in back-to-back games, boosting his scoring total to 11 points (seven goals, four assists) through 13 appearances. The Maple Leafs captain will attempt to record his fourth three-game goal streak of the calendar year in Wednesday's matchup against the Utah Mammoth.--Taavi Pailk
