The Houston Astros have signed free-agent infielder Brendan Rodgers to a minor-league deal with an invitation to spring training on Tuesday night. Rodgers had played his entire career with the Colorado Rockies before being non-tendered in the offseason. The former third-overall draft pick never lived up to his top prospect billing but was able to cobble together a .267-13-54-67-1 line in 2024. He's still only 28 years old, so he's still got time to turn it around, and maybe a new organization will help unlock his true potential. With an aging Jose Altuve currently slotted in as the starting second baseman, it's wise for the Astros to also have an insurance policy in Rodgers.--Jarod Rupp
