A's Believe Austin Adams' Injury Is A Short-Term One
4 months agoOakland Athletics manager Mark Kotsay expects right-hander Austin Adams' (forearm) injury to be a short-term issue. Adams will be shut down from throwing for a few days before the A's set a more clear timeline for his return from the 15-day injured list. His placement on the IL was backdated to Aug. 15. The A's put the 33-year-old reliever on the IL on Sunday with right-forearm tendinitis, but it sounds like the team is hoping he'll be ready to rejoin the major-league bullpen when he's eligible to return. Dany Jimenez (oblique) came off the IL over the weekend to take Adams' spot in the bullpen. In his first year in Oakland, Adams has gone 1-2 with a 3.92 ERA, a 1.48 WHIP and a 53:23 K:BB while hitting a league-high 13 batters in his 41 1/3 innings of work. When he returns, he'll return to a late-inning setup role in front of star closer Mason Miller.
