Alex Wood Hoping To Start Rehab Assignment Soon
6 years agoCincinnati Reds starting pitcher Alex Wood (back), who has been out with lower back spasms since spring training, started a throwing program last week but has yet to throw off a mound. "I’m kind of right in the middle of my rehab," Wood said. "I haven’t looked at my exact schedule, but I’m probably 2 1/2 weeks before going on an assignment and then being ready to go after that. I feel really good. Things have been going really, really well." If everything goes according to plan, Wood could make his season debut with the Reds around the All-Star break. Those in mixed leagues can continue to leave him on the waiver wire and take a wait-and-see approach with him when he joins Cincy's starting rotation.
