OwnersBox Pitchers

On OwnersBox, you select two Pitchers, and need three games from these two pitchers. Any game you go over after the third, best ball mode is activated - meaning the lowest score is dropped. So a good approach is obviously looking for affordable two-start pitchers for the week with at least three solid matchups in mind.

Tyler Mahle, CIN ($26,400) - vs CHC, at KCR

If there is one solid bet in MLB pitching right now its getting strikeouts versus the Cubs. Over the L14 they own just a 66 wRC+ and a dreadful 33 K% versus RHP. Over the last month Mahle boasts a 33.6 K%, 3.14 xFIP, and 1.10 WHIP. His numbers at home look pretty ugly on the surface, but his expected stats are actually better than when on the road and he's still whiffing 28.8% at GABP. Mahle is quite familiar with this Cubs offense, having faced them 10 times in his career - going 4-2 with a 3.61 ERA and a nice 1.01 WHIP. While the Royals aren't known to strikeout the second matchup has a high floor which should be a sufficient third pitching score in the occasion Wheeler stumbles against the Padres.

Kyle Gibson, TEX ($29,400) - at SEA, vs DET

Like I said, you want three solid matchups in mind out of these four starts from your pitchers. Mahle vs the Cubs is certainly a great one, and Kyle Gibson has two himself. Over the last month the Mariners and the Tigers own the second and sixth highest K% vs RHP, respectively. Gibson has been flat out amazing this season, rocking a 6-0 recond, 2.00 ERA, and 1.01 WHIP across 90 innings thus far. In his last start, he racked up 99 FP on OwnersBox after hurling seven scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts against the Royals.

OwnersBox Infielders

The Infield is my favorite portion on Ownersbox. You only need 28 games from the five players. Simple math tells you if you average six games per infielder, you are already at two lowest scores dropped from the lot. That way you can utilize five-game studs as long as you pair them eventually with a seven-game player also to maintain that 30 total games. The Outfield is much more difficult to take advantage this way, so don't waste the opportunity with your infielders!

Nolan Arenado, STL ($25,900) - 7 Games

If you want to pay up for an infielder this week, Nolan Arenado returning to Coors Field for a four game series is a great place to start. He is the hottest hitter on the Cards disappointing offense, with a .400 ISO and 163 wRC+ over the L14. To follow up the Coors series, he travels to the Bay for three games against the Giants. I typically won't go too crazy chasing Coors but Arenado is a special case going back to his old stomping ground.

Keston Hiura, MIL ($13,300) - 7 Games

After you pay up for some Coors exposure, you need some serious salary relief. Hiura has been awful for most of his big league time, but after spending time down in the minors this year he now has three HR in his first five games back with the Brewers. Its no Kyle Schwarber, but this feels like a heater! To make this play a little more comfortable, the Brew Crew get a four game series against the Pirates pitching staff. The cherry on top is despite his many struggles, Hiura has raked at PNC Park, hitting eight dongs in 16 games for his short career.

OwnersBox Outfielders

As I mentioned previously, filling the three Outfield slots is more difficult than the five Infielders on OwnersBox. You need 17 games from the three hitters, so that means you mostly want to stay away from five-game hitters. I try to get at least one seven-gamer if possible and aim for at least 19 total games for two lowest score drops.

Steven Duggar, SFG ($15,400) - 7 Games

The Giants hitters get seven games in this contest, and face two of the worst five pitching staffs over the L14 in Arizona and St. Louis. Who is the hottest Giants hitter over that span? Steven Duggar with a cool 221 wRC+ and .294 ISO. He has absolutely destroyed the Dbacks pitching this season has great home splits for the Cards series. Seven games/$15,400 for a hot hitter and great matchups? Sign me up.

Joey Gallo, TEX ($19,200) - 6 Games

FIVE bombs in his last THREE games. Joey Gallo is en fuego, folks. This week's schedule looks quite juicy for the Rangers hitters as they travel to Seattle (who Gallo has hit three HR against in seven games this season) for three games followed by three games at home versus the Tigers pitching staff. Hop on the wave and enjoy the ride.
