Andy's NHL power rankings for all 32 teams heading into Week 7 of 2025. Where does each NHL team stand in our latest power rankings for the 2025 season?
Week 6 of the NHL season is in the books, and the standings are taking shape, which means it's time to update our power rankings.
Who has gotten off to an impressive start? Which teams are free-falling in our rankings? This week, we saw one of the top teams on our list suffer a significant injury that could hinder them throughout the winter. In addition, following a slow start, an early-season contender has finally begun to show their elite potential.
All statistics and team records mentioned are updated as of Monday, November 17. Let's dive in!
No. 32 - Calgary Flames
The Flames opened their week with a match against another recurring team at the bottom of this list, the St. Louis Blues. Since they fell in regulation in this contest (3-2), they will once again hold the bottom spot on our list. They finished the week with a 2-0 victory over the Sharks and then fell to the Jets in a shootout.
They enter Week 7 with a -19 GD and just 13 points.
No. 31 - St. Louis Blues
Once again, sitting at the bottom of this list are the St. Louis Blues. The Blues opened their week with a victory over the Flames but concluded with two losses. They tallied a point against the Flyers but ended Week 6 with a regulation loss to the Golden Knights.
Robert Thomas is currently leading the team in scoring, having tallied just 12 points (three goals) through 15 games. In net, Jordan Binnington sits with a poor .869% SV% entering Week 7.
No. 30 - Nashville Predators
The Predators spent most of their week overseas, but did play a home game against the Rangers on Monday. In this game, their offense scored three goals, but they were unable to contain New York, who scored six times. Then in the International Series, the Predators began with an overtime victory over the Penguins before falling to them on Sunday afternoon (3-0).
Filip Forsberg is the only skater on the club with 15 or more points through six weeks of action.

No. 29 - Buffalo Sabres
After beginning their road trip with a loss to the Hurricanes last Saturday, the Sabres saw their struggles continue this week. They began the week with two regulation losses to the Mammoth and the Avalanche. However, on Saturday, they earned an overtime victory over the Red Wings.
This was their first victory since November 1, when they knocked down the Capitals in regulation.
No. 28 - Toronto Maple Leafs
The slow and inconsistent start to the season continues for Toronto. This week, the Leafs once again struggled to take the next step forward, posting a modest 0-2-1 record. Their lone point came in an overtime loss to the Los Angeles Kings.
Overall, the Leafs have posted an 8-9-2 record and are falling well short of expectations. While there is still ample time to turn things around, this has been a very frustrating start for the Maple Leafs. Auston Matthews has tallied just 14 points through 17 games and was recently shifted to the IR, which could hinder their offensive output even further.
No. 27 - Washington Capitals
The Capitals continue to sit near the back of the pack in Week 6 and enter Week 7 with a modest 8-8-2 record. Their victory came against a high-powered Hurricanes on Tuesday, but they ended the other week with a loss to the Panthers (in regulation) and Devils (shootout).
Overall, the Capitals enter the new week with a +3 GD. After a dominant start to the season, Logan Thompson has begun to hit a skid. Over his last four starts, he has held a .899% SV% with a 2.72 GAA.
No. 26 - San Jose Sharks
After a hot start to the month, the budding Sharks have hit a bit of a slump. They began their week with a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over the Wild, but would then lose their final two games in regulation. One of their losses came against the lowly Flames, who have held the bottom spot on our rankings for nearly the entire campaign.
Macklin Celebrini has continued to play at a high level, having tallied nine points over his last six games.
No. 25 - Florida Panthers
The Panthers picked up two much-needed victories and began to climb in the Eastern Conference. The two-time reigning champions picked up an impressive road victory in Las Vegas on Monday and then took down the Capitals on Thursday evening in Florida. However, on Saturday, they saw their win streak come to an end at the hands of the surging Lightning.
Brad Marchand has continued his impressive start to the season, scoring 12 goals and adding nine assists.
No. 24 - Vancouver Canucks
Following their hard-fought overtime los ot the Avalanche last Sunday, the Canucks dropped the first two games of the week. On Tuesday, they fell to the Jets 5-3, but were able to pick up a loser point against the Hurricanes on Friday.
On Sunday, they pulled off an impressive victory (6-2) over the Tampa Lightning in Florida, bringing them to a 9-9-2 record. In this game, defenseman Quinn Hughes led the way, tallying four assists.
No. 23 - Columbus Blue Jackets
After dropping three straight games last week, the Blue Jackets got themselves back on track in Week 6. They began their week with two overtime contests on the final leg of their Western road trip, posting a 1-0-1 record against the Oilers and Kraken. On Thursday, they returned home and took down the Oilers, then picked up a loser point on Saturday against the Rangers.
Kirill Marchenko has remained the heartbeat of the offense, carrying an impressive 11-game point streak into Week 7.
No. 22 - New York Rangers
Similar to Florida, the Rangers ended last week with a disappointing 5-0 loss to the Islanders on their ice. However, they responded with three straight victories to open their week, over the Predators, Lightning, and Blue Jackets, with two of these games being on the road.
While they ended their week with a home loss on Sunday night to the Red Wings, this strong showing brought them to a solid 10-8-2 record ahead of Week 7. The Rangers will need J.T. Miller to find his footing if they want to remain in the playoff hunt. Through 20 games, the three-time 30+ goal scorer has found the back of the net just four times.
No. 21 - Philadelphia Flyers
Even though the Flyers have only picked up one victory over the last four games, they have not continued to hold their ground in the standings, pushing games to overtime to stay in the hunt in the Eastern Conference. This week, their lone victory came on Friday against the St. Louis Blues. They picked up an overtime loser point against the Oilers on Wednesday, but fell to the Stars in regulation on Saturday.
They enter the new week with a promising 9-6-3 record and a +0 GD. Overall, they have scored just 51 goals, which is tied for the eighth-fewest in the sport. If their offense can find its footing, this team could push for a wild card.
No. 20 - Edmonton Oilers
Following an embarrassing 9-1 loss to the Avalanche last week, the Oilers got themselves back on track with three crucial victories. The Oilers earned all the points from their overtime victories over the Flyers, Hurricanes, and Blue Jackets. Their lone loss of the week came on Thursday to the Blue Jackets.
Netminder Stuart Skinner has led the charge in their turnaround as he has picked up a victory in each of his last three starts and held a solid 2.63 GAA.
No. 19 - Utah Mammoth
The Mammoth had a perfect get-right match to begin the week and were able to snap their three-game losing skid on Tuesday against the Sabres. They took care of Buffalo by a score of 5-2. In this contest, JJ Peterka and Nick Schmaltz combined for four points. However, they were unable to get on a winning streak, falling to the Islanders in overtime on Friday evening.
Schmaltz is the only skater on the club to have over 20 points entering Week 7. Through 18 games, Schmaltz has found the back of the net 10 times and added 11 helpers.
No. 18 - Minnesota Wild
The Wild began to make up some ground last week and continued to roll on this momentum this week. They opened Week 6 with an overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks, but finished with two straight victories over two top teams in the Western Conference.
On Saturday, the Wild shut out the high-flying Ducks (2-0) and then took down the Golden Knights (3-2) in overtime on Sunday evening. Forward Matt Boldy has been very productive over their recent surge, tallying eight points (five goals) over their last six games.
No. 17 - New York Islanders
The Islanders had a busy week playing four games, but three of those contests went to overtime. The Islanders prevailed in all three contests, taking down the Devils, Golden Knights, and Mammoth, all in overtime and on the road. While they saw their win streak come to an end at the hands of the Avalanche on Sunday, this strong showing gave them a boost in our rankings.
Before Sunday's loss, Ilya Sorokin was riding an impressive streak, posting a dominant 1.75 GAA with a .939% SV% over his last five starts.
No. 16 - Tampa Bay Lightning
After making a strong surge in the standings earlier this month, the Lightning took a bit of a step back in our rankings this week. They began their week with a 7-3 loss to the Rangers on their home ice. While they responded well with a victory over the Panthers on Saturday, they dropped another home game on Sunday, this time to the Canucks.
Nikita Kucherov and Jake Guentzel continue to lead the scoring department for this club as both enter Week 7 with at least eight goals.

No. 15 - Ottawa Senators
Even with Brady Tkachuk still on the IR with a thumb injury, the Senators have continued to climb the Eastern Conference and now sit just outside the top-12 of our power rankings. This week, they opened with an overtime loss to the Stars but rebounded well, taking down the Bruins in regulation on Thursday evening.
They concluded their week with a tough 1-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. Drake Batherson has held down the slack on offense with Tkachuk on the shelf, tallying 14 points over his last 11 games.
No. 14 - Chicago Blackhawks
The Blackhawks played in only two games this week, but continued to prove they are a team to take seriously this season. They began their week with an overtime loss to the Eastern-heavyweight New Jersey Devils. Then on Saturday, they picked up their ninth win of the campaign over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Connor Bedard saw his nine-game point streak come to an end on Saturday, but he has continued to be one of the sport's top forwards. Through 18 games, the former top prospect has scored 10 goals and tallied 16 helpers.
No. 13 - Seattle Kraken
Despite entering the new week with a -1 GD, the Kraken hold an impressive 9-4-5 record and have an opportunity to maintain their position in the Western Conference. This week, the Kraken went 2-0-1, with their one loss coming in overtime, against the Blue Jackets. They defeated the Sharks and the high-powered Jets.
With Joey Daccord (upper body) on the IR, Philipp Grubauer has taken on much of the load in the crease. Over his last three appearances, the veteran goaltender has posted a 3-0 record with a solid 2.25 GAA.
No. 12 - Detroit Red Wings
The Red Wings took a major dip in last week's rankings as they ended their week on a rough three-game regulation loss streak. However, Detroit bounced back in a big way, which brings them towards the middle of the pack this week.
The Red Wings posted a 2-0-1 record, with their one loss coming at the hands of the Sabres in overtime on Saturday evening. They took down the Ducks on Thursday and the Rangers on Sunday. Alex DeBrincat is riding a three-game goal streak into Week 7 as he has netted five goals over his last three contests.
No. 11 - Winnipeg Jets
Great teams rebound well from disappointing weeks. Last week, the Jets fell to the Kings, Sharks, and Ducks in regulation. However, in Week 6, the Jets were able to get themselves right back on track and posted a 2-1 record to bring them to a solid 11-7 record.
Their two victories came against weaker opponents (Canucks and Flames), while their loss came at the hands of the Kraken. Connor Hellebuyck has hit a bit of a skid, leading to inconsistent showings: he posted a 4-4 record over his last eight games with a modest .899 SV%.
No. 10 - Montreal Canadiens
One of the biggest fallers this week was the Montreal Canadiens. After ending last week with an impressive 6-02 victory over Utah and an overtime loss to the Devils, the Canadiens dropped all three games this week in regulation and were vastly outplayed in each. They scored five goals in two games and held an underwhelming -12 GD over the week.
This dropped them to a 10-6-2 record entering Week 7. While this was a rough week, expect this team to bounce back and remain in the top 3 of the Atlantic Division.
No. 9 - Vegas Golden Knights
Despite picking up three losses this week, the Golden Knights were able to push for overtime in two of them to keep their ground in the standings. This week, they held a modest 1-1-2 record, with their lone victory coming against the lowly St. Louis Blues on Saturday evening (4-1).
With William Karlsson (lower body) and Mark Stone (wrist) both on the IR, the offense has taken a bit of a hit as they have only scored four or more goals in a single game once since October 28. In addition, netminder Adin Hill (lower body) hit the IR this week, which will push Akira Schmid to the lead role.
No. 8 - Boston Bruins
The Boston Bruins continued to prove doubters wrong and entered Week 7 with 24 points to their name. They began their week the same way it ended in Week 5, with a regulation victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. While they fell to the Senators in regulation on Thursday, they bounced back well and took down the Canadiens on Saturday.
Star winger David Pastrnak has posted three straight multi-point outings. Since October 19 (last 14 games played), Pastrnak has punched in nine goals and added 11 helpers.
No. 7 - Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins were on the other side of the International Series and picked up three of the four possible points in their two-game tilt with the Nashville Predators. In Game 1, they fell to the Predators in overtime but rebounded strongly on Sunday, taking them down 3-0.
While they have hit a bit of a skid, the Penguins continue to impress and sit with a solid 10-5-4 record, well above nearly everyone at this point in the season. Injuries to Justin Brazeau, Filip Hållander, Rickard Rakell, and Noel Acciari have tested this unit, but they continue to hold their ground.
No. 6 - Los Angeles Kings
After a strong showing last week, when they picked up two impressive victories over the Jets and Penguins, the Kings continue to climb in the power rankings this week and now sit in the No. 6 spot.
In Week 6, the Kings went a perfect 3-of-3 and picked up all six possible points. They knocked down the slumping Montreal Canadiens by a dominating 5-1 score and took care of the Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators.
No. 5 - Anaheim Ducks
After a near-perfect start over the last two weeks, regression was inevitable for this young Ducks squad. This week, Anaheim dropped all three games in regulation, bringing their record to 11-6-1. They fell to the Avalanche, Red Wings, and the Wild.
Despite this disappointing week, their elite play over the first two weeks keeps them high on this list. Leo Carlsson, Cutter Gauthier, and Troy Terry have all hit the 20-point mark in just 18 games played.
No. 4 - Carolina Hurricanes
The Hurricanes took a bit of a step back this past week, but remain near the top of the Eastern Conference. While they opened the week seeing their four-game win streak snapped at the hands of the Capitals, they rebounded well, picking up an overtime victory over the Canucks on Friday and then tallying a loser point against the Oilers on Saturday.
Despite the slight drop in the standings, the Hurricanes remain a well-balanced team and hold a strong +14 GD.
No. 3- New Jersey Devils
Despite going 2-0-1 this past week, Devils fans are quite uneasy heading into the new week with superstar center Jack Hughes recently placed on the IR and set to miss at least the next eight weeks of action after undergoing finger surgery.
While this is a tough blow for them to remain top Stanley Cup contenders, they picked up victories over the Blackhawks and Capitals and fell to the Islanders in overtime. Overall, they hold a stellar 13-4-1 record with a +9 GD.
No. 2- Dallas Stars
Here comes the Dallas Stars. The Stars already began to surge in the standings last week, but brought them to another level in Week 6. They earned all six possible points and recorded two impressive victories. On Thursday, they dismantled the Canadiens on their home ice (7-0) and then knocked down the Flyers (5-1) back in Dallas.
Jason Robertson was the spark plug of the offense this week. He found the back of the net six times and even tallied a natural hat-trick in their victory over the Flyers, bringing his total to nine on the season.
No. 1 - Colorado Avalanche
Once again, sitting at the top spot are the Colorado Avalanche. This week, the high-flying Avalanche opened their week with a stellar 4-1 victory over the Ducks and then took care of business over the Sabres on Thursday evening (6-3).
Then on Sunday, the Avalanche extended their winning streak to six games with a 4-1 home victory over the surging New York Islanders. Through six weeks, the Avalanche has posted a 13-1-5 record and sits comfortably in our top spot. Nathan MacKinnon is the early-season Hart Trophy favorite, having tallied 33 points through 19 games.
