Barry Leonard's DFS advice for 3/27/16. Daily Fantasy Hockey Lineup Picks and sleepers for FanDuel & DraftKings NHL cash games and GPPs.

Welcome to the Daily Fantasy Hockey (NHL DFS) lineup picks article for March 27th of the 2015/2016 NHL season. Each day we'll be providing you with a handful of forward, defensemen, and goaltender picks for DraftKings and FanDuel GPP and cash games.

Easter Sunday brings a very slow day of NHL action, with just three games on the schedule. However, don't let that deter you, as there will still be plenty NHL DFS contests for you to participate in.

Finding the perfect combination of stars and low-owned sleeper picks will be the key to success today. Pittsburgh, Chicago, and the Rangers will all be popular sources for lineups today.

NHL DFS Picks for Sunday, March 27th

A couple strategy notes. For cash game construction look for players who can contribute to your score when they are not providing offense. Examples are guys who take a ton of shots, defensemen who block a lot of shots(DraftKings). Also, look for guys who get powerplay time and especially Top 6 forwards. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury or just get a promotion and more ice time.

For large field tournaments (GPP's) you want to find payers who have multi-point upside and can grab double-digit fantasy points. To stack the most upside in your forwards, a common strategy is to punt the defenseman position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone. Try and look for a D-man who will be playing more PP time or might get a boost in overall playing time due to an injury.

Let's take a look at some solid plays for today's action.

Scott Wedgewood - Goaltender, Devils   (DraftKings - $7,000)

With starter Cory Schneider still on the shelf for today's game, the Devils will turn to either Scott Wedgewood or Keith Kincaid to protect the crease. With three strong starts in a row, Wedgewood should have the upper-hand. The rookie has been great in his three career starts, stopping 91 of 93 shots. His only blemish so far was a 1-0 overtime loss to Washington on Friday. With just six goalies to choose from for fantasy purposes today, Wedgewood easily has the best matchup, going up against Carolina, a team averaging just 2.40 goals per game. Take him with confidence. Just be sure to check his status, and if Kincaid is the one to get the nod, feel free to roll with him as well. Also, be aware that Wedgewood is only available on DraftKings.

Adam Henrique - Center, Devils  (DraftKings - $4,300 FanDuel - $4,600)

Henrique has put up 46 points this season, and is just five away from equaling his career high. He's been a bit inconsistent at times, but has still been a solid fantasy play most nights. He didn't record a point in Friday's game with Washington, but has four points in his last five games. He won't get you much in terms of penalty minutes, blocked shots, or power-play points, but he's got a very good rating of plus-15. Carolina has been tough on opposing centers this year, but with limited options, Henrique is one that could carry a low ownership number, something that you need for your lineup to be successful.

Derek Stepan - Center, Rangers    (DraftKings - $5,600 FanDuel - $6,900)

Stepan scored a power-play goal and dished out a helper on Saturday. The points extended his streak to three games, with two goals and four assists over that stretch. He fired four shots on goal Saturday, giving him 20 total shots in the last five games. His price has remained low for a player who can both score the puck and dish it. Make sure you ride the hot hand when selecting a center for your lineup today.

Kyle Palmieri - Winger, Devils  (DraftKings - $5,300 FanDuel - $5,800)

Palmieri didn't register a point in Friday's game, but he's still been playing very well lately. With 52 total points, including  nine in his last nine games, the 25-year-old has been a solid producer for his fantasy owners. He also has taken 197 shots and has a rating of plus five. Palmieri gets a favorable matchup with Carolina today and makes for a good play on either DFS site. The Hurricanes have been very generous in terms of fantasy points allowed to opposing right wingers this season. As an added bonus for those playing on FanDuel, he's got 21 points on the power play this season.

Chris Kreider - Winger, Rangers   (DraftKings - $4,500 FanDuel - $5,100)

Kreider had a monster game Saturday, scoring two goals, including one on the power play, and dishing out an assist. He also picked up four penalty minutes in the game. While the game was great to see from Kreider, keep in mind that he had a failed to register a point in the five previous games. Still, on a day with so few choices, there's nothing wrong with trying to ride the hot hand. His price tag is low enough to allow you to spend bigger money on one of the stars tonight.

Phil Kessel - Winger, Penguins    (DraftKings - $6,600 FanDuel - $6,700)

Kessel snapped a three-game pointless stretch Saturday in a big way. He picked up a goal and four assists, while also firing six shots on goal. The veteran winger also finished with a rating of plus-3. With just 52 points on the season, it's not been exactly the production the Penguins hoped for when they picked up the winger in the offseason. However, Kessel still has a ton of talent and as demonstrated Saturday, can put up points in large chunks. Even if he doesn't show up on the stat sheet, he's still useful in DFS formats thanks to his propensity to shoot the puck. His six shots Saturday marked the second time in five games that he had six or more shots on goal. Take Kessel today and enjoy the production you'll get.

Keith Yandle - Defenseman, Rangers    (DraftKings - $5,000 FanDuel - $4,900)

Yandle picked up two assists Saturday for the second straight game. The veteran blueliner has been streaky this year, and he could be getting into one of his hot streaks now. Prior to the two multi-point games, he was pointless in four games. Before that, he had a five-game point streak. Yandle can be a good play in all daily fantasy formats, but is especially strong on FanDuel given his ability to put up power-play points. Most of the blueliners have tough matchups today, but Pittsburgh has actually struggled to stop opposing defenseman.
