NASCAR Xfinity Series: DraftKings DFS Lineup Picks for Pennzoil 150 at the Brickyard (8/14/21)

It's Brickyard time! This year will mark the second season in a row that the NASCAR Xfinity Series has raced on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.

This year, they'll be joined by the Cup Series and IndyCar. It's going to be a fun weekend in Indy!

Here at RotoBaller, we want to help you make informed decisions about your DFS lineups, which is why I'll be breaking down the slates for the Xfinity Series. Let's look at some NASCAR Xfinity DFS lineup picks for the Pennzoil 150 at the Brickyard on DraftKings. A.J. Allmendinger #16 ($10,400)

Starting 1st

The pole-sitter for this race, Allmendinger has the only car with a time under 1:30 in qualifying. He was also fifth-fastest in practice.

A.J. has run some here in sports cars, and finished fourth in this Xfinity race last season after starting 30th.

This is arguably the best road course driver in NASCAR, and starting on the pole offers some early chances to get up front and lead some laps. If you're looking for the best bet to just drive away with this race, it has to be Allmendinger.

Ty Gibbs #54 ($10,300)

Starting 5th

With all that about Allmendinger said, don't count out a dominant Ty Gibbs performance.

Gibbs has already won twice at road courses in the Xfinity Series, which is impressive when you realize he has just four starts at road courses. He was also this at Mid-Ohio and led two laps at Road America before a transmission issue knocked him out of the race.

Gibbs has quickly become the top prospect in NASCAR. You always have to assume he'll find a way to win a race, even when it doesn't make sense that an 18-year-old is just dominating against all these veteran drivers.

Maybe it's just that the 54 car is so far ahead of everyone else. Maybe Gibbs is one of the best pure drivers in the world. Maybe it's both.

Sam Mayer #8 ($9,000)

Starting 24th

After being second-fastest in practice, Mayer struggled in qualifying and will start 24th.

But for us DFS players, that's just a lot of good news. We get a car with potential race-winning speed starting this far back, which means we're going to have a lot of place differential upside out of this 8 car.

Mayer hasn't set Xfinity on fire like Gibbs has, but the young driver does have two top 10s, including a 10th last week at Watkins Glen. There's definitely some risk here as this is just Mayer's sixth Xfinity race, but he looks like a decent road course racer.

Jeb Burton #10 ($7,700)

Starting 23rd

Kaulig cars always have speed on road courses and Burton was eighth-fastest in practice before qualifying just 23rd.

The case for Burton is basically a light version of the case for Mayer.

Good car. Starts lower than 20th. Driver has talent.

Now, the car and driver probably aren't as good as Mayer and his JRM machine, but Burton does have three top 10s in six road course races in Xfinity, with an average finish of 14.0.

Burton finished 31st here last year, but he did lead a lap.

JJ Yeley #17 ($7,400)

Starting 36th

Yeley has had no speed this weekend in the 17 car, which is why he starts 36th and had to get into the race on owner's points.

But this 17 car has been solid this season. Yeley has raced it five times, with a pair of top 15 finishes. His average finish in it is 18.8.

Cody Ware has also put this car into the top 15 on a road course.

So while the $7,400 price tag on Yeley is concerning, there's just too much place differential upside. Yeley is a smart driver who can keep this car clean during what will likely be a chaotic race.

Ryan Sieg #39 ($5,100)

Starting 35th

Tough qualifying run for Sieg. Because of the system used for qualifying at most tracks, Sieg routinely starts in the top 20. He also usually finishes around where he starts, which means he's never really an exciting DFS play.

But this week, he starts 35th. Road courses aren't Sieg's forte at all, but his worst finish this year in a race where he was running at the finish was 27th. He was 18th at Watkins Glen last week and had a ninth-place finish at Mid-Ohio, so Sieg can put this 39 car in a decent position on a road course.

Yes, the lack of speed this weekend concerns me, just as it concerns me with Yeley. But at just $5,100, Sieg feels like a slam-dunk play based on his 2021 performance.
