MLB Hitter Cheat Sheet (5/29/16): Daily Fantasy Baseball Value Picks

JB's MLB DFS hitters for 5/29/16- daily fantasy baseball cheat sheet and lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings GPPs and cash games

Sunday might just be my favorite day of the week for baseball. You get a full slate of baseball today, with 14 of the games being finished by the time you get in bed tonight, and then get to watch Clayton Kershaw do magical things during prime time. All of this while grilling, relaxing, and having a peaceful mind knowing you don't have to go to work tomorrow (most of us at least). It don't get any better than that, folks. Except, of course, if you can also be winning money on DFS during all of it. That is what I am here for, to provide you with players that will give you the most bang for your buck today. I have selected the top hitters at each position that you can roster on your DFS lineups for under $4,000, so you can free up some dough to spend on studs elsewhere.

That is the purpose of this article -- to provide you with the best value hitters available each day.

Today I'll be bringing you 12 value hitters for MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball on FanDuel and DraftKings for May 29th, 2016. Let's get started!

 

DFS Hitters - Lineup Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings

Brian McCann, NYY (C)

FanDuel: $3,000/ DraftKings: $3,300

McCann loves hitting RHP, against whom he has hit five HR with a .360 OBP this season. He especially loves facing Jake Odorizzi. In 23 career PA against the Rays starter, BMac is hitting .600/.652/1.300 with three HR.

If you can't quite squeeze out the dough for McCann today, because rostering Clayton Kershaw is not cheap, consider A.J. Pierzynski. The Braves catcher has hit two HR along with a .471 BA against Tom Koehler in 18 PA for his career, and is only $2,200 on FanDuel.

 

Adrian Gonzalez, LAD (1B)

FanDuel: $2,900/ DraftKings: $3,500

Gonzalez is coming off a big night in which he hit his fifth HR and seventh double of the season. Today he squares off against Big Fat Bartolo Colon, who he has tormented over the years. In 28 career PA versus Colon, Gonzalez is hitting .464 with three HR. He makes for a nice Kershaw-led lineup first baseman, and a great cash game option all around.

In GPP games, you might require a player with a higher ceiling than 34 year old Gonzalez. If so, consider Chris Carter, who has crushed southpaws this season. He faces Brandon Finnegan, who he took deep in his lone match-up prior to today.

 

 

Devon Travis, TOR (2B)

FanDuel: $2,100/ DraftKings: $2,900

Since returning from the disabled list, Travis has recorded a hit in all four games. He has only faced David Price once in his short career, but recorded two hits in three AB. He still has plenty of rust to knock off, which should keep him out of your GPP lineups, but is a nice cheap filler in cash games today. His prices won't stay this low for long, so we might as well take advantage while we can.

For GPP games, consider Greg Garcia, who has scored over 20 fantasy points in two consecutive games.

 

Travis Shaw, BOS (3B)

FanDuel: $3,800/ DraftKings: $3,500

Shaw belted his seventh HR yesterday, and continues to impress as the Red Sox third baseman. He is hitting .302 on the season, and .336 against RHP. R.A. Dickey is not your average right hander, but Shaw has still gone 4-10 with a HR and two BB against the knuckle baller to this date. Owning any key members of the number one offense in the league for under $4K is a win, especially today.

If you are playing on FanDuel today, and would like to save $700, consider Matt Duffy. He is hitting .308 with a HR lifetime against Chris Rusin, and should receive ample run scoring opportunities today as the Giants look to continue their dominance against LHP. However, keep looking Shaw's way on DraftKings, where Duffy is extremely overpriced today.

 

Marcus Semien, OAK (SS)

FanDuel: $2,500/ DraftKings: $3,100

Semien is only hitting .222 on the season, which keeps his prices low, but still has shown legit power with 10 long balls. Today the Athletics do battle with Mike Pelfrey, who is the owner of a miserable 5.55 ERA and 1.81 WHIP. Semien is 2-5 with a HR lifetime against Pelfrey, and has a strong probability of going yard again today. Consider in both cash and GPP games.

 

Gerardo Parra, COL (OF)

FanDuel: $3,300/ DraftKings: $3,500

Despite playing in Coors Field today, Parra's usage percentages should remain fairly low due to Johnny Cueto's numbers this season. He is hitting a healthy .321 at home in his first season with the Rockies, and has accrued a .344 BA with two HR in 35 career PA against Cueto. Parra hasn't shown enough power or speed yet this season to warrant GPP consideration, but will do just fine in your cash game lineups.

 

Seth Smith, SEA (OF)

FanDuel: $3,000/ DraftKings: $3,400

Smith is 4-8 with three R in his last two starts, and true to himself, owns a .385 OBP this season against RHP. He also earns a boost playing in SafeCo Field, where he's hitting .298 in 2016. Today he draws a match-up with Ricky Nolasco (1-3, 5.54 ERA), who Smith is 5-11 with a HR and two BB against in 13 career PA.

For a much safer option, with a lesser ceiling, consider Nick Markakis. He is hitting a ridiculous .643 in 17 PA lifetime against Tom Koehler.

 

Peter O'Brien, ARI (OF)

FanDuel: NA/ DraftKings: $2,900

My GPP play of the day is a man who is 0-1 with a strikeout in 2016, that is, at the major league level. O'Brien was just called up by the Diamondbacks this week, after hitting .306 with 12 HR in 42 games at AAA. If he gets his first start today, against the LHP Drew Pomeranz, look for him to showcase his massive power stroke. Unfortunately, only DraftKings users get to pursue this bold option today.
