MLB DFS: DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (8/15/24) - Today's Top Lineups

Zack Wheeler - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB News, DFS Picks, Betting

Free daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for today's slate on DraftKings, FanDuel. Use Euan's MLB DFS expert picks to build winning DFS lineups on August 15, 2024.

Happy Thursday, RotoBallers! It's a classic MLB Thursday with games all over the clock. There's a four-game slate kicking off at 1:10 p.m. EDT and then an evening three-game slate teeing off at 6:35 p.m. EDT. This article will cover both slates faster than it usually would when focusing on one larger contest.

They're a half-game back of the Yankees, and the Orioles look set to make this AL East race go down to the wire. Since the All-Star break, Baltimore is blasting righties with the sixth-best OPS (.803) and wOBA (.347) while only striking out 21.6 percent of the time. Nick Pivetta could be in for a long evening on Thursday.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/15/2024. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is also essential.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Early slate - Four games

Jack Flaherty - RHP, LAD at Brewers ($10.0K DraftKings; $10.8K FanDuel)

Despite not throwing more than six innings in a single start this season, Jack Flaherty continues to rack up the strikeouts. The newly acquired Dodger has at least seven Ks in three of his last four starts and recorded his second double-digit-strikeout game in his last trip to the mound. Milwaukee will be a tougher test than Pittsburgh, but the Brewers own an elevated strikeout rate (24 percent) to right-handed pitching. With that floor and the Dodgers' run support behind him, Flaherty is the standout pitcher from the early slate.

Bryce Miller - RHP, SEA at Tigers ($8.4K DK; $9.1K FD)

Bryce Miller is almost the opposite of Jack Flaherty because he's been going deep into games but isn't getting a lot of strikeouts. The sophomore pitcher has thrown at least six innings in four of his last five outings but hasn't recorded more than six strikeouts in a game since June 12. The Tigers won't offer much upside in that department with a 23.2 percent strikeout rate to righties, but they won't do much damage, either. Since the All-Star break, Detroit sits inside the bottom 10 for wOBA (.293) and wRC+ (88) versus RHP.

Evening slate - Three games

Zack Wheeler - RHP, PHI vs. Nationals ($9.6K DK; $10.4K FD)

It feels like Zack Wheeler goes under the radar for how great a pitcher he's been during this decade. He's working on his fourth season of a sub-3.00 ERA in the last five years and is on pace for another 200-strikeout campaign. Wheeler sports a 2.78 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and a 27.5 percent strikeout rate for the year. Washington has the fourth-lowest strikeout rate (18.4 percent) to RHPs but doesn't offer much resistance in the hitting categories, either. Wheeler may not have a 40-point-night upside, but a clean evening with 20-25 DK points feels secure.

Bailey Ober - RHP, MIN at Rangers ($8.2K DK; $10.6K FD)

Bailey Ober tops the charts on FanDuel but is only $200 more on DraftKings than Cody Bradford. Make sure you find the $200 to upgrade Bradford to Ober tonight. Over his last nine starts, the Twins right-handed hurler hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in a game and has recorded at least seven strikeouts in seven of those trips to the mound. Texas is in the bottom nine over the last month for strikeout rate to RHPs (20.8 percent) but also sits in the bottom four for OPS (.639) and wOBA (.279). Ober's run will continue in Texas tonight.
