BALLER MOVE: Bench in leagues with 14 or fewer teams
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB4
ANALYSIS: Sanders has been one of fantasy football's biggest disappointments this season. The Penn State product was taken at an ADP of RB19 in PPR drafts this offseason and currently ranks as the RB48. His presumed backup to start the year -- Chuba Hubbard -- had virtually stolen the lead-back role in Carolina for much of the season.
Sanders was looking like the workhorse back many drafted him to be over the first three weeks with an average of 21.3 opportunities, which ranked among the top-10 backs in the league. The efficiency was not there, however, and that left the door open for RB2 Chuba Hubbard to steal touches. Hubbard went from 7.3 opportunities over those first three weeks to 17.2 over the next five. Granted, one of those games Sanders was out with a shoulder injury but even after he returned after the Week 7 bye, Hubbard was clearly the starter.
The positive news is that over the past two weeks, we've seen the snaps move back closer to an even split. In Week 10, Sanders saw 38% of snaps to Hubbard's 50%, but last Sunday against Dallas, he was bumped up to 46% vs. Hubbard's 49%. While the snap counts are promising, the looming matchup with the Tennessee Titans on the road doesn't instill any confidence in folks who own stock in this backfield, especially Sanders.
Mike Vrabel's defense has been torn up at times but has been more stout at home, giving up an average of 91 yards in Nissan Stadium vs. 118.5 on the road. If Sanders was going up against a much weaker rush defense such as the Chargers or Cardinals, he could be on the deeper flex radar even with him still playing second fiddle to Hubbard, but this is not a great spot. The former Eagle should be on the pine in most leagues this Sunday.
