Should I Start Kimani Vidal for Fantasy Football?
After Najee Harris tore his ACL and Omarion Hampton hurt his ankle, there was an open competition for the next Chargers RB. Harris is out for the season, and Hampton won't return until after Week 12. Kimani Vidal appears to have won that competition. Vidal has been outplaying fellow backups Jaret Patterson and Hassan Haskins. He has run for 309 yards, just five shy of Hampton, and his per-carry average of 4.7 is also on the heels of Hampton's 4.8 yards per carry.
Vidal has gotten double-digit carries in three of the past four games. The only game in that stretch in which he did not get ten or more carries was the Chargers' Week 7 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in which L.A. fell behind early.
The Chargers' Week 10 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers will probably not be as easy as their victories over the basement-dwelling Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans, nor as big of a blowout as their 37-10 win over the Carson Wentz-led Minnesota Vikings. But it will surely not be as difficult as their game against the league-leading Indianapolis Colts.
The Colts defense allows just 87.0 yards per game, and Vidal joined the list of running backs who disappointed against them. He ran for just 20 yards on nine carries and did not find the end zone.
That game was sandwiched in between two 100-yard games against the Dolphins and Vikings. Vidal's performance against the Titans last week also left something to be desired. He gained just 30 yards on 12 carries against one of the ten worst run defenses.
The Steelers run defense ranks in the middle of the pack. They are allowing 105.5 yards per game, the 12th-most, and 4.2 yards per carry, the 15th-most. Vidal is a good start in a flex spot.
Should I Start Kyle Monangai for Fantasy Football?
Rookie Kyle Monangai ran all over Cincinnati's beleaguered defense for 176 yards on 26 carries in the Bears' down-to-the-wire victory over the Bengals. D'Andre Swift missed the game with a groin injury.
Now in Week 10, Monangai faces the only defense that might be as bad as the Bengals. The New York Giants are allowing 150.0 yards per game on the ground, the second-most, and 5.5 yards per carry, which is dead last.

Christian McCaffrey had a 100-yard game against the Giants last week, and the Niners' backup running back Brian Robinson ran for 53 yards and a touchdown on just five carries. If Monangai is to have a repeat performance as a the top-12 weekly finisher, he'll have to do a lot on fewer carries. Swift appears in line to play in Week 10 after logging a full practice on Thursday.
If Swift is back, he will likely function as the RB1, but Monangai would likely get enough carries to make an impact as a flex. If Swift unexpectedly is unable to play, Monangai is a must-start.
Should I Start Devin Singletary for Fantasy Football?
Devin Singletary had season highs for carries, yards, and receptions in Week 9 against the San Francisco 49ers.
His increased usage is due to Cam Skattebo have suffered a severe ankle injury in Week 8. Skattebo is out for the season, so Singletary looks to maintain his relatively increased role in Week 10 against the Chicago Bears.
Singletary is behind Tyrone Tracy on the Giants' depth chart, however, so his managers should not expect him to dominate carries. In Week 9, he did have three more carries than Tracy, and Singletary ran for more yards per carry.
Tracy was on the field for most of the snaps until an injury took him off the field for a short while in the third quarter. Tracy logged 22 snaps in the first three quarters, but Singletary took over for 14 of the Giants' 17 offensive snaps in the fourth quarter. Tracy hasn't appeared on the Giants' injury report this week, so all indications are that he is good to go and will probably receive more carries than Singletary.
Neither Tracy nor Singletary has been doing well for the season. They both average a dismal 3.5 yards per carry and have success rates hanging around 48%. Unless there is a surprise on the Friday injury report, Singletary is a poor quality start in Week 10.
