BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team PPR Leagues
OWNED IN: 2% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Here's a quick comparison between a pair of Vikings receivers after two weeks:
- Receiver A: 19 targets, 11 receptions, 136 yards, 1 touchdown
- Receiver B: 15 targets, 12 receptions, 167 yards, 1 touchdown
One of the receivers was a unanimous top-25 pick in fantasy this year. The other wasn't drafted anywhere and was barely even on the radar of season fantasy managers going into the season.
All right, enough skirting around the subject. Receiver A is second-year stud Justin Jefferson and Receiver B is one of the biggest surprises at the receiver position so far this year: K.J. Osborn.
Osborn was a fifth round pick of the Viking in 2020 and didn't see a single snap as a rookie. This year, he looks cemented into the No. 3 receiver spot on the Vikings behind Jefferson and Adam Thielen. Dede Westbrook has been the only other Vikings receiver not named yet to receive a target so far this year and he only has one through two games.
Osborn's current rate of production is clearly unsustainable. His 13.9 yards per reception average is inflated by his 64-yard touchdown from Week 2. If we thought he could sustain anything close to his current pace without injuries to either Jefferson or Thielen, we'd be calling him a must-add in all formats. Instead, he's just someone worth adding in deep PPR leagues. He should continue to see at least five or six targets per game going forward and he could provide solid flex numbers in deep leagues with those targets.
