Gameweek 12 Preview - Fantasy Premier League 2024-25 Tips and Captaincy Picks

Gameweek Tips - Fantasy Premier League, Soccer

This article provides a preview of what Gameweek 12 has in store for fantasy managers, including top captain selections and strong picks for the weekly FPL Challenge game.

The final international break of 2024 is now behind us, paving the way for uninterrupted Premier League action until the new year. One of the standout moments from Gameweek 11 was Liverpool's Mohamed Salah crossing the 100-point mark, solidifying his place as the top FPL scorer of the season so far.

The FPL Challenge introduces a new event series called the Goal Diggers, where managers search for bargain hunters and super savers for the next five weeks. As always, we’ll offer weekly breakdowns of the top assets to target and help you maximize your points potential.

The Gameweek 12 deadline for the 2024-25 Fantasy Premier League season is Saturday, November 23, at 6:00 a.m. EST, when Enzo Maresca returns to Leicester City with his new squad, Chelsea. Also, check out the rest of our excellent soccer coverage as the squad gets you all set for every EPL and UCL slate with our EPL DFS lineup picks and betting picks.

Gameweek 12 Tips

Target Chelsea, Arsenal, and Aston Villa Attacking Assets

This week, we're shifting focus away from the title front-runners, Liverpool and Manchester City, pointing our compass elsewhere. It is highly recommended that FPL managers target players from Chelsea, Arsenal, and Aston Villa.

All three clubs, currently in the top 10, have failed to secure a win in their last two EPL games. However, Gameweek 12 presents a fresh opportunity to turn their fortunes around and regain momentum.

Based on goal projections, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Aston Villa are expected to generate 2.21, 2.10, and 1.93 xG (expected goals), respectively, against their opponents in Gameweek 12.

Additionally, these clubs have been projected to earn clean sheets in their upcoming encounters, with a likelihood of 49% for Arsenal, 36% for Chelsea, and 35% for Aston Villa.

This week's recommended players for FPL returns include Chelsea's Cole Palmer, Nico Jackson, and Reece James, Arsenal's Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel, and Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, Morgan Rogers, and Lucas Digne.

Amorim at the Wheel: United FPL Assets Set to Shine

"He is here and he is perfect" were the euphoric words uttered by the Red Devils as Manchester United unveiled its new head coach, Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese tactician is set to lead the Red Devils at the Theatre of Dreams until June 2027, with an option to extend for an additional year.

FPL managers who took a chance on Man United captain Bruno Fernandes earned 27 FPL points between Gameweeks 10 and 11, highlighting how a temporary shift in management can improve a player's performance.

It is not too late to join the United bandwagon, as we expect Amorim's regime to start well, especially given the Red Devils' excellent set of fixtures ahead. The new manager bounce is in motion!

Gameweek 12 Top Captain Picks

The weekend fixtures present a list of fascinating options for your captaincy choice. Players like Erling Haaland facing Tottenham, Ollie Watkins at home to Crystal Palace, and Newcastle's Alexander Isak against West Ham all present strong cases. However, my top three picks would be:

Mohamed Salah (£12.9m) - Liverpool

The 32-year-old veteran tops the FPL rankings with 107 points, amassing 9.7 points per match, and boasts 14 goal contributions (eight goals and six assists) for the Reds this season.

With Liverpool’s next fixture against bottom-of-table Southampton and a projected 51% scoring in Gameweek 12, Mo Salah is our RotoBaller top captain pick for the week.

Bukayo Saka (£10.1m) - Arsenal

Arsenal's "Starboy," Bukayo Saka, has been a creative force this season, leading the league with 13 big chances created and boasting an impressive expected assists (xA) of 0.76 per 90 minutes.

With the return of Martin Ødegaard to the squad, Saka’s role as a key attacking threat could be amplified as the duo rekindles their dynamic link-up play.

A home fixture against Nottingham Forest offers a prime opportunity for Arsenal to bolster its Premier League title bid. Saka's creativity and goal involvement make him a standout candidate for your captaincy armband in Gameweek 12.

Cole Palmer (£10.9m) - Chelsea

Chelsea's talisman, "Ice Cold" Cole Palmer, moves into our top captain selections thanks to a favorable game against Leicester City. Palmer excels in every stat in a Blue shirt, with seven goals and five assists to his name.

Despite Palmer's exceptional stats (the Englishman has only scored one goal in his past five league games), Gameweek 12 gives yet another opportunity for Palmer to help FPL managers grab explosive points this week.

FPL Challenge: Goal Diggers

The FPL Challenge section for the 2024-25 season is back, and RotoBaller remains your go-to source for valuable insights on selecting the right assets for any challenge.

The 11th challenge, "Accuracy," focused on selecting a team of five players where each shot on target earned three points. Our RotoBaller Test Lab series garnered 180 points between Gameweeks 8 to 11, finishing in the top 10% for the four-week challenge.

A new event series is underway and our job is to assist you maximize points for each task presented. Here is a breakdown of what is expected from the FPL Challenge: Goal Diggers event.

The Goal Diggers is a five-gameweek run that pushes fantasy managers to research bargain hunters and super savers. This series covers five tests focusing on earning points through different players and play styles.

  • Gameweek 12: Economize - The budget is set to only £45m.
  • Gameweek 13: Haaland or Salah? - Liverpool and Man City players earn double points.
  • Gameweek 14: Red Hot Deal - Man United players earn double points.
  • Gameweek 15: Big Spender - Players costing over £9m earn double points.
  • Gameweek 16: Bargains - Players costing under £6m earn double points.

Goal Diggers FPL Challenge: Economize - Players to Target

Week 12 of the FPL Challenge, Economize, highlights selecting a team of seven players with a budget limit of £45m. The aim is to test your skills in selecting key players across interesting fixtures while managing your funds.

RotoBaller's top seven picks for this week's Challenge are:

  • In goal, Andre Onana leads the goalkeeping rankings with 53 points, boasts five clean sheets in the league, and is expected to keep a clean sheet against Ipswich.
  • In defense, Jurriën Timber drives a huge bargain into Arsenal's defense while Aston Villa's Lucas Digne's eight big chances created in the league could excel from his attack contribution against Crystal Palace.
  • In midfield, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers are two assets heavily involved with goal contribution for their respective teams and work within our budget constraints.
  • For the forwards, Nico Jackson and Joao Pedro complete the attack and round off our lineup in a 2-2-2 formation.

Note: Liverpool and Man City's players were ignored in our selections due to their high price tags.

Feel free to select any other top FPL Challenge alternatives that are not mentioned above. Best of luck to everyone participating in this week's challenge!
