BALLER MOVE: Start in 12+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: Flex / WR3
ANALYSIS: While Davis looked like the prototypical post-hype sleeper in fantasy to start the year with touchdowns in four of the first five games, he has unfortunately gone back to his usual boom-bust ways that plagued him all of last year. After dropping 87 yards and a touchdown on a near career-high 12 targets in Week 8 on Thursday Night Football, Davis has followed up that performance with two of three zero point efforts.
Last week against the Jets, a game in which Buffalo scored 32 points, Davis did not draw a target. What's even crazier is that he played the most snaps out of any Buffalo wide receiver (88%)! It's true that the Jets have the best pass defense in football, but not drawing a single target is very concerning, even for someone with the volatile fantasy reputation that Davis possesses.
The Bills did fire offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey after their meltdown loss against Denver in Week 10, but it's too early to tell how much that will impact the offense. For Davis' sake, early signs aren't great obviously, but he does draw a Philly pass defense this coming Sunday that is 32nd against opposing fantasy wide receivers. This game also features the highest over/under of the week with 48.5 points. You could not ask for a better spot.
With Davis there is always tremendous risk, but he has proven that he can be a week winner, and usually does it when his start percentage is lowest. After a week where he gave managers a goose egg on 0 targets, his start percentage might be one of the lowest of the season. Not to say that by itself is a great reason to play him, but given the juicy matchup with a lot of expected points in this one and the Bills fighting for their playoff lives, Davis is not a bad flex play this week.
