DFS Lineup Picks: Fantasy Football Sleepers & Advice for Week 5

FanDuel Fantasy Football Advice for Week 5

By Keith Allison (originally posted to Flickr as Joe Flacco) [CC-BY-SA-2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0)], via Wikimedia CommonsFellow RotoBallers and weekly league fantasy football fans, I am here every week to help you identify some players to consider inserting into your FanDuel lineups. By identifying which players have good Week 5 matchups, in relation to their prices on FanDuel this week, we can hopefully find some DFS sleepers who can help you win.

And for even more in-depth weekly FanDuel analysis and advice, you should check out our weekly DFS newsletter which has been sizzling hot recently in picking weekly studs. You can see how some of those exclusive DFS picks performed last week, and get involved at any time. You can also check out our live DFS chat room for real time advice and FanDuel banter. Good luck in Week 5 RotoBallers!

Quarterback Value Picks for Week 5

QB: Joe Flacco ($7,500): Quietly, Flacco and the Ravens have turned from a pound it out team to a team that likes to pass it all over the yard. Through four games he has attempted 183 passes and posted a solid 7 touchdowns. He has over 12 fantasy points in each game this year and now gets an Indianapolis squad that has given up over 1,000 yards passing already this year, and has allowed high powered offenses like Philadelphia and Denver to both score over 30 points. Look for Flacco to be a sneaky play on Sunday.

QB: Austin Davis ($7,200): Now that he has been named starting quarterback for the remainder of the season, Davis should be able to play with a bit more confidence. In his last game out against Dallas he had 22 fantasy points with 327 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. This week he faces an equally poor Eagles defense that is 23rd in the NFL against the pass, and has allowed at least 17 points each week this year. The Rams also are likely to be down in this game which means Davis will be asked to drop back and try to keep up with Nick Foles and company. He will certainly be a risky play who is likely to throw at least one interception, but if he can put up another 300 yard game he could help you afford FanDuel studs at other positions.

Running Back DFS Value Picks for Week 5

RB: Darrin Reaves ($5,000): Reaves is now the last man standing in Carolina after DeAngelo Williams was added to the injury report that already contained Jonathan Stewart and Mike Tolbert. The team did sign Chris Ogbonnaya, but Reaves will get the first shot at carries and will hopefully start out hot. Last week he only averaged 2.2 yards per carry, but also caught three balls out of the backfield adding to his value. The matchup also helps as the once vaunted Bears defense ranks in the bottom third of rush defense. With a near minimum value it would only take one big play to hit value on FanDuel in Week 5.

RB: Ben Tate ($6,200): Tate is set to return from injury this week against Tennessee. The team's top running back only has 6 carries after being injured in Week 1, but should be able to shoulder the load for a Browns team that needs to run the ball to be successful. Young backs Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West have both had moderated success this year with a combined 345 rushing yards and 5 rushing touchdowns, but Tate is the superior talent. He is a gamble for sure, as he could pull up lame, but if he starts and makes it through the game he should blow past his FanDuel price tag.

Wide Receiver DFS Value Picks for Week 5

WR: Golden Tate ($6,300): The second Tate on the list, Golden makes a great play this weekend as Calvin Johnson is questionable with an injury. Last week, Johnson was also limited and Tate took advantage with 8 receptions and 116 receiving yards. The Lions love to throw the ball and Tate could be left as the team’s only viable option outside against the Bills, which only means good things for the former Notre Dame receiver. Look for Tate to haul in around 8 receptions with the upside for 100+ yards and 2 touchdowns Sunday.

WR: Andrew Hawkins ($5,300): Not too often will two players from the Browns make the list, however Hawkins needs a mention this week as Brian Hoyer’s top target. He leads the team with 33 targets in just three games this year and has over 6 receptions and 70 yards in all of those games. The Titans have also given up 100 points over the last three weeks so Cleveland could be a solid stack this weekend.

WR: Michael Floyd ($6,400): At this point it’s hard to argue that Floyd is not the top receiving option on the Cardinals team. He leads the team in targets, yards and receptions. The disappointing part is that he has yet to find the end zone which has limited his upside, but it seems like only a matter of time until that happens. Arizona should be trailing in their game against Denver which means Drew Stanton will likely be asked to throw more downfield, which only means good things for Floyd in Week 5.

Tight End DFS Value Pick for Week 5

TE: Travis Kelce ($5,300): All aboard the Kelce bandwagon! He was building hype prior to last Monday night and then he put up 8 catches for 93 yards and a score against New England. He has become the top receiving option for Alex Smith, with at least three receptions in all four games this year. Also if you are into other stories, it is Kelce’s birthday on Sunday, and his present could be a big game for fantasy owners.

Defense DFS Value Pick for Week 5

DEF: Dallas ($4,700): So much for the Cowboys having the worst defense of all time. They have scored 31 fantasy points over the last three weeks, and now get a Texans team that is struggling at QB and has their top two offensive stars coming in banged up. Ryan Fitzpatrick has also thrown five interceptions the last two weeks, so the opportunity for a huge fantasy game in there for Dallas.
