DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (5/22/16): MLB DFS Advice

More rain is once again in the forecast for parts of the country today, but there will still be plenty of MLB action to take in. As always, just be sure to check your final lineup to confirm there haven't been any game postponements.

Several players head into today on some hot streaks, and while they will seems like obvious DFS plays, you'll want to make sure you find some guys with lower ownership numbers in order to be successful.

Sundays are sometimes a day that managers decide to give certain players rest after a busy week, so be sure to confirm final lineups before the contests starts.

Pitching is always the key to building a solid DFS lineup, so be sure to choose wisely. Many aces were in action Saturday, but guys like Noah Syndergaard, Madison Bumgarner, and Jordan Zimmerman will all be on the bump today.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for DraftKings on 5/22/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on DraftKings.

DFS Lineup Stacks to Target on DraftKings

Baltimore Orioles vs. Jared Weaver (RHP)

The Orioles have one of the most potent lineups in the league and often make for a good stack option. Today, the Orioles will go up against Jared Weaver. The veteran right-hander has struggled this season, posting a 3-3 record with a 5.76 ERA. Lefties Chris Davis and Pedro Alvarez will make for good targets. Manny Machado will also be a good option, as he's been crushing righties this season.

Oakland Athletics vs. Michael Pineda  (RHP)

I know that suggesting the A's as a lineup stack, especially minus Josh Reddick, sounds crazy, but Michael Pineda has been that bad this season. New York's right-hander has been getting rocked to the tune of a 6.60 ERA. He's given up 11 runs in his last two outings, making anyone who faces him an attractive option. Chris Coghlan, Stephen Vogt, and Khris Davis should all be considered for a stack today. Just check the status of Davis beforehand given the fact that he exited Saturday's game with forearm tightness.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider on DraftKings

Cole Hamels, TEX at HOU - $12,200

Hamels has been hot to start the season, though he has picked up no-decisions in his last two starts and gave up three runs in each. Overall, he's 4-0 with a solid 3.10 ERA. He struck out seven Astros the last time he faced Houston and will look to equal or better that number today. The veteran has put up good numbers and makes for a good selection for your DFS lineup today.

Noah Syndergaard, NYM vs. MIL - $13,300

Thor carries a big price tag into today, but is riding a two-game win streak, having allowed just two earned runs over his last two starts. The Brewers don't have a very scary lineup, making this a very favorable matchup for Syndergaard at home. With the strikeout potential and the likelihood of a low amount of runs allowed, take him as one of the top pitching targets today.

DFS Infielders to Consider on DraftKings

Catcher (C)

Yan Gomes, CLE at BOS - $3,300

Gomes enters today with a six-game hit streak and received a day of rest Saturday. His average of .185 leaves a lot to be desired, but he does have six homers and has produced at least five fantasy points in the last six games. He likely won't garner much attention, so take a chance on the low salary and the low ownership.

First Base (1B)

Brandon Belt, SFG vs. CHC - $3,400

If you're participating in contests that include the primetime game, then take Brandon Belt as your first baseman. He's 3-for-5 with a home run and a triple in his career against tonight's starter, Kyle Hendricks. Plus, Belt has been producing solid numbers all year in the middle of a tough San Francisco lineup. This lefty hitter versus right-handed pitcher is too good to pass up.

Second Base (2B)

Daniel Murphy, WSH at MIA - $3,600

Murphy continues to be one of the top-hitting second basemen this season. Today's matchup is too good for you to pass up in DFS contests. He has just four at-bats against Miami's Adam Conley, but has racked up three hits, including a double and a triple, and three RBI against him. Murhpy has a good spot in the lineup on a good team, making him an excellent choice for your lineup today.

Shortstop (SS)

Zack Cozart, CIN vs. SEA - $3,900

Cozart has been a cheap source of production so far this year and is hitting .326 with five homers. He got the day off Saturday after five straight starts, so he should be back in the starting lineup today. He's picked up a hit in six of his last seven games and is working on three straight games with at least 10 fantasy points. It's hard to go wrong with Cozart right now.

Third Base (3B)

Manny Machado, BAL at LAA - $5,100

Machado continues to make his case as one of the top fantasy options available. He's been crushing the ball all season and has been a big contributor to DFS lineups. He's facing a struggling Jared Weaver today and will once again have a good chance to put up some big numbers.

DFS Outfielders to Consider on DraftKings

Dexter Fowler, CHC at SF - $3,700

Fowler had a big game Saturday, picking up three hits, including his fifth home run of the season. He's got a .324 average and has been very successful as Chicago's leadoff man. He's been very strong over the last few games and has put up at least nine fantasy points in each of the last four games. Fowler has a very reasonable price for the production he'll get you.

Adam Eaton, CWS vs. KC - $4,600

Chicago's leadoff man often flies under the radar because nothing about his number really jump off the page. However, he's been a very productive in fantasy terms, averaging over eight points per game.

Michael Saunders, TOR at MIN - $4,100

Saunders went yard again Saturday and now a home run in back-to-back games and three in his last four. He's had a great month, hitting .324 with three home runs and six RBI. The production likely won't stick, as he's only a .237 lifetime hitter, but longevity doesn't matter in daily formats. Saunders is hot right now and needs to be in your lineup.
