Double Gameweek 33 Preview - Fantasy Premier League 2024-25 Tips and Captaincy Picks

Gameweek Tips - Fantasy Premier League, Soccer

This article provides a preview of what Gameweek 33 has in store for fantasy managers, including top captain selections and strong picks for the weekly FPL Challenge game.

The Premier League run-in continues with highlights from Gameweek 32, including Man City's 5-2 comeback victory over Crystal Palace and Newcastle's back-to-back home wins, which have put the Geordies in third place in the table. We've got another double gameweek coming up. Prepare your fantasy teams! As we deliver the best FPL recommendations each week.

The FPL Challenge introduces a new event series called Race for Europe, where players from key matchups score double points each week. As always, we’ll offer weekly breakdowns of the top assets to target and help you maximize your point potential.

The Gameweek 33 deadline for the 2024-25 Fantasy Premier League season is Saturday, April 19, at 8:30 a.m. EDT. Also, check out the rest of our excellent soccer coverage as the squad gets you all set for every EPL and UCL slate with our EPL DFS lineup picks and betting picks.

Double Gameweek 33 FPL Tips

Target Arsenal, Man City, and West Ham Assets

This week, four teams - Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Arsenal, and Manchester City - will play twice in Matchday 33. However, we'll roll our dice on Arsenal and Manchester City assets for the double gameweek.

Arsenal's repeated rotations in the Premier League were not in vain, as the Gunners just defeated Real Madrid 5-1 on aggregate. With the storm over, Arsenal's assets are top picks for this week as they face relegation favorites Ipswich and Crystal Palace.

The Cityzens sent a message to their upcoming opponents after defeating Crystal Palace 5-2 in Gameweek 32. Manchester City have netted nine goals in their previous four league games, and with an eye on securing a Champions League spot next season, the next two games against Everton and Aston Villa are must-wins.

One man to look out for this week is Manchester City legend Kevin De Bruyne, as the Belgian international anticipates playing every minute in a City shirt before departing the club at the end of the season.

In 17th place, West Ham urgently needs to improve their Premier League standings, as the Hammers have gone winless in their last five games. However, facing Southampton, who have already been relegated, could help them put an end to their poor run of form.

Bringing in a West Ham asset this week is also regarded as a long-term investment. The Hammers do not have a blank in Gameweek 34 and could potentially have a double gameweek fixture by Gameweek 36.

To this end, FPL managers are advised to prioritize selecting assets from either Arsenal, Man City, or West Ham for Gameweek 33.

According to goal projections, Arsenal and Man City are expected to produce a combined 4.10 xG and 3.75 xG (expected goals) against their respective opponents this week. Meanwhile, West Ham are projected to produce 2.10 xG against Southampton.

Recommended FPL assets for Double Gameweek 33:

  • Arsenal: Bukayo Saka, Mikel Merino, and William Saliba.
  • Man City: Omar Marmoush, Kevin De Bruyne, and Joško Gvardiol.
  • West Ham: Jarrod Bowen and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Double Gameweek 33 Top Captain Picks

The weekend fixtures present a list of fascinating options for your captaincy choice. Players like Jarrod Bowen against Southampton, Mohamed Salah against Leicester, and Alexander Isak against Aston Villa present strong cases. However, our top two captain picks this week are:

Bukayo Saka (£10.5) - Arsenal

Arsenal's 'Starboy' is back on the captaincy list largely due to favorable matchups against Ipswich and Crystal Palace.

Following a great performance in the Champions League, the Englishman is playing his most elegant football in an Arsenal shirt. With a goal forecast of 60 percent odds to score this week, Saka is expected to hit double figures in Gameweek 33, making him a top contender for the Triple Captain chip.

Omar Marmoush (£7.6m) - Man City

Omar Marmoush, an Egyptian international with an average of 0.46 expected goals per 90 minutes, has contributed four attacking returns in his last four games, earning his FPL owners a total of 30 points.

With consecutive games against Everton and Aston Villa in Gameweek 33, Pep Guardiola will rely on the Egyptian international to be his focal point of goals this week, making Marmoush a prime candidate for the captain's armband.

FPL Challenge: Race for Europe

The FPL Challenge section for the 2024-25 season is back, and RotoBaller remains your go-to source for valuable insights on selecting the right assets for any challenge.

The 32nd challenge in the 7-a-side series, dubbed "All-rounder," focused on selecting a team of seven players while strictly sticking to a 2-2-2 formation. A new event series is underway, and our job is to help you maximize points for each task presented.

Here is a breakdown of what to expect from the FPL Challenge: Race for Europe series.

The Race for Europe event is a five-gameweek run that highlights the top performers in each position while picking at least five players. This series covers five tests that focus on earning points through different players and top-tier matchups until the end of the season.

  • Gameweek 33: West London Derby - Players from Chelsea and Fulham earn double points.
  • Gameweek 34: Nottingham Forest v. Brentford - Players from Nottingham Forest and Brentford earn double points.
  • Gameweek 35: Brighton v. Newcastle - Players from Brighton and Newcastle earn double points.
  • Gameweek 36: Liverpool v. Arsenal - Players from Liverpool and Arsenal earn double points.
  • Gameweek 37: Arsenal v. Newcastle - Players from Arsenal and Newcastle earn double points.

Race for Europe FPL Challenge: West London Derby - Players to Target

Week 33 of the FPL Challenge involves selecting a team of five players with an unlimited budget. However, this week's task focuses on selecting players from Chelsea and Fulham who are set to earn double points.

RotoBaller's top picks for this week's challenge are:

  • In goal, Arsenal's David Raya is our top goalkeeper to bank on for clean sheet points. Arsenal has the best clean sheet odds this week (68 percent likelihood) in their double gameweek encounter. As a result, Raya is the keeper to have in goal this week.
  • In defense, Fulham's captain, Antonee Robinson, is a top defender to bank on for attacking returns and a perfect fit for double points in this week's task.
  • In midfield, Bukayo Saka and Jarrod Bowen are our top midfield options.
  • For the forwards, Omar Marmoush completes the attack and takes the spotlight as our captain of the week, rounding off our lineup in a 1-2-1 formation.

Remember, you are free to select any other top FPL Challenge alternatives not mentioned above.

Enjoy your Easter holidays, and best of luck to everyone participating in this week's challenge!
