Double Gameweek 25 Preview - Fantasy Premier League 2024-25 Tips and Captaincy Picks

Gameweek Tips - Fantasy Premier League, Soccer

This article provides a preview of what Gameweek 25 has in store for fantasy managers, including top captain selections and strong picks for the weekly FPL Challenge game.

Hello, RotoBallers! Gameweek 25 is the second double gameweek of the 2024-25 EPL season, with Liverpool and Aston Villa slated to play twice this week, first over the weekend and against each other on February 19.

The FPL Challenge: Assistant Manager Series introduces this week's new task, "The Assistant Manager GW2," where managers can select a real-life Premier League manager for their fantasy teams. As always, we’ll offer weekly breakdowns of the top assets to target and help you maximize your point potential.

The Double Gameweek 25 deadline for the 2024-25 Fantasy Premier League season is Friday, February 14, at 1:30 p.m. EST, when Brighton welcomes Chelsea. Also, check out the rest of our excellent soccer coverage as the squad gets you all set for every EPL and UCL slate with our EPL DFS lineup picks and betting picks.

Double Gameweek 25 FPL Tips

Invest in Bournemouth and Aston Villa Attacking Assets

Scoring 12 goals in their last five matches and defeating top opponents such as Chelsea, Newcastle, and Nottingham Forest. With their 11-game unbeaten run coming to an end in Gameweek 24, the Cherries are set to return to winning ways against their next opponent, Southampton.

Despite being winless in its previous three EPL games, Aston Villa's involvement in a double gameweek, which includes back-to-back home games against Ipswich and Liverpool, increases the attraction of its FPL assets.

Nonetheless, before selecting your favorite Villa assets, it's important to focus more on its attacking options. Aston Villa has only kept two clean sheets in its last 10 matches, conceding 15 goals in this time frame.

Given this, FPL managers are advised to prioritize selecting attacking options from Bournemouth or Aston Villa for Gameweek 25.

According to goal projections, Bournemouth and Aston Villa are expected to both produce 2.25 xG (expected goals) in their upcoming fixtures. For the second game against Liverpool, Aston Villa is projected to produce 1.28 xG, suggesting that the Villans may have a scoring spree this gameweek with a total of 3.53 expected goals.

This week's recommended targets include any of Bournemouth's Justin Kluivert, Antoine Semenyo, and Dango Ouattara, and Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, Morgan Rogers, and Jacob Ramsey.

FPL Double Gameweek 25 Top Captain Picks

The weekend fixtures present a list of fascinating options for your captaincy choice. Players like Jarrod Bowen against Brentford, Erling Haaland at home against Newcastle, and Arsenal's Leandro Trossard against Leicester present strong cases. However, my top two picks would be:

Mohamed Salah (£13.7m) - Liverpool

Mohamed Salah, who leads the FPL with 251 points and averages 10.5 points per match, remains our go-to captaincy pick, thanks to an extra fixture coming up for the Reds on February 19.

In Double Gameweek 24, the Egyptian king finished with 29 points after contributing four attacking goals and an assist. Salah has the FPL track record to be explosive and is 49 points shy of hitting the 300 FPL point mark.

It's a no-brainer; Salah is our RotoBaller captain of the week and a top contender for the Triple Captain chip.

Justin Kluivert (£5.9m) - Bournemouth

With a total of seven goal contributions (five goals and two assists) made in January, Justin Kluivert has been in incredible form for Bournemouth, as he was recently awarded the Premier League Player of the Month Award.

According to goal projections for Gameweek 25, the Dutch international is estimated to produce 0.51 xG (expected goals) against Southampton, making him a compelling contender for the captain armband.

FPL Challenge: Assistant Manager Series

The FPL Challenge section for the 2024-25 season is back, and RotoBaller remains your go-to source for valuable insights on selecting the right assets for any challenge.

The 24th challenge, "The Assistant Manager - GW 1," focused on selecting a team of 10 players with a Premier League manager where Liverpool and Everton had a double gameweek.

This week's challenge marks a continuation of the new Assistant Manager chip, and our job is to help you maximize points for each task presented.

In case you missed it, here is a recap of the FPL Challenge: Assistant Manager series.

The Assistant Manager Series is a five-gameweek run that experiments with the Assistant Manager chip, as fantasy managers can select any Premier League manager to boost their fantasy team. This series covers five tests focusing on earning points through different players and play styles.

  • Gameweek 24 to 26: The Assistant Manager GW 1-3 - You can play an Assistant Manager.
  • Gameweek 27: Team Chemistry - Players from the Assistant Manager's Club earn double points.
  • Gameweek 28: Double Down - Assistant Managers earn double points.

Assistant Manager FPL Challenge: Gameweek 2 - Players to Target

Week 25 of the FPL Challenge involves selecting a team of 10 players and one Premier League manager with a budget of £100 million.

RotoBaller's top picks for this week's challenge are:

  • In goal, Emiliano Martinez is our top goalkeeper of the week.
  • In defense, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Milos Kerkez. Two out of these three defenders have a double-gameweek fixture and are solid defensive assets to bank on for this week's task.
  • In midfield, Mohamed Salah, Justin Kluivert, and Morgan Rogers are our top midfield options. Salah takes the spotlight as our captain of the week.
  • A front line of Cody Gakpo, Erling Haaland, and Ollie Watkins complete the attack, rounding off our lineup in a 3-3-3 formation.
  • Arne Slot is our top manager for the Gameweek 2 Assistant Manager FPL Challenge.

Remember, you are free to select any other top FPL Challenge alternatives not mentioned above. Best of luck to everyone participating in this week's challenge!
