BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 1% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: I remember when Dalton Schultz's breakout season came completely out of left field last year. After back-to-back campaigns of playing 11+ games but not even reaching 26 PPR among those two seasons combined, Schultz was given the TE1 role in Dallas last year for the first time in his career and he put together a 146.5 PPR season to go with a 9.2 FPPG average. All in all, a TE1 finish ranking 11th at the position was more than good for Schultz to enter the viable fantasy-play realm for 2021. And he's back at it, believe it or not.
Nothing that happened Thursday, nor that you will read in this post is going to make much sense at first sight. But bear with me for a second. While not a massive hit on the surface against Tampa, Schultz still posted 10.5 PPR points in the season's kickoff game to the tune of a 6-target, 6-reception, 45-yard performance for the Cowboys. Those might not look like league-winning numbers, but they would have been right there last season.
On average, the TE1 cutoff in PPR leagues sat at 11.0 PPR points over the full 17-week 2020 season. The TE2 cut was at a measly 6.5 PPR points. Schultz, who is barely rostered if at all, already played like a borderline TE1 even on what was perceived to be a "bad" game. Don't get overly excited about Schultz, and keep in mind TE Blake Jarwin eating from Schultz's pie in Dallas, but also consider Schultz a very serious streaming and off-the-WW addition going forward at a ridiculously high availability this early in the season.
