ANALYSIS: Colby Thomas, the Oakland Athletics' third-round draft pick in 2022 and 12th overall prospect in the A's organization, has been tearing up the competition in Double-A. The 5-foot-10 outfielder has a big arm and a bigger bat.
Known for his raw power, Thomas is leading the Texas League with 15 doubles, 14 home runs (tied for first), 46 RBI, and 118 total bases. His .919 OPS is sitting at seventh overall, but wait, there's more...Thomas isn't just a presence at the plate, he's also a legitimate threat on the basepaths. Grading out as a plus runner, Thomas swiped 25 bags in 2023 and has 11 steals to his name so far in 2024.

Thomas doesn't seem to have much left to prove in the minors and could get his chance in the big leagues soon. While MLB.com gives a projected arrival date of 2025, it's not a stretch to think we may see him patrolling the Oakland outfield this season.
The A's have been rotating between the likes of Lawrence Butler and Seth Brown while toying with Esteury Ruiz. The 23-year-old Thomas can provide an immediate upgrade if given the opportunity. If you're in a dynasty/keeper league or a league with N/A slots, he's worth a stash. If not, add him to your watch list and monitor closely. He's currently available in 100% of both Yahoo and ESPN leagues, so there is still plenty of time.
Once he gets the call, expect him to quickly contribute in both HRs and steals. Just make sure to remember that those types of players don't typically last too long on the waiver wire.
