Cade Povich is a fantasy baseball waiver wire stash for Week 9 (2024). Target Povich as a top prospect free-agent waiver wire pickup for fantasy baseball.
BALLER MOVE: Stash in Deeper Leagues (3% rostered)
CALL-UP ETA: Late June - Early July
ANALYSIS: Cade Povich has certainly made a strong case that he's ready for the next challenge of his baseball career - facing major league hitters at the next level.
The tall, lanky, 24-year-old lefty has been dominant at Triple-A Norfolk so far this season. He's made eight starts for the Tides, striking out 57 hitters while going 4-1 with a 2.16 ERA and 1.10 WHIP.

Those numbers represent a huge improvement on the 5.36 ERA he posted in 45 innings at Triple-A at the end of the 2023 season. Unlike some other pitching prospects who have been fast-tracked through minor league systems, Povich has paid his dues and shown incremental improvement every season, logging 100+ innings in both 2022 and 2023.
The only thing preventing Povich from a mid-summer debut in the big leagues is a log jam on the Orioles roster. Baltimore has their entire starting rotation healthy right now and no need for an additional starter. However, many have speculated that the Orioles will be one of the most active teams at the trade deadline because of their depth at the Triple-A level and if someone like John Means is traded as part of a larger package, then a spot could open up for Povich.
