Brock Purdy is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for quarterbacks. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 2 of the 2023 NFL season.
ANALYSIS: The San Francisco 49ers had a statement win on Sunday, traveling all the way to Pittsburgh to route the Steelers in what was projected to be a close game between two strong defensive units.
It was 49ers QB Brock Purdy who answered the call after an off-season recovery from elbow surgery, completing 19 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns.
Purdy's health and job security were in limbo this off-season, which kept him fairly off the radar from a fantasy perspective.
The second-year signal-caller has run this Niners offense incredibly effectively in his time at the helm, and with the likes of WRs Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel, TE George Kittle, and RB Christian McCaffery, Purdy has the talent around him to continue to propel him into weekly fantasy production.
Brock Purdy targeting past the sticks vs the Steelers:
Purdy's upside is limited to a degree, as HC Kyle Shanahan's offenses are traditionally run-first and don't emphasize a high-volume passing attack.
But with the weapons surrounding him and his ability to properly orchestrate this offense, Purdy is worth a pick-up as a depth piece as he provides a safe floor and can be started in weeks where he has favorable matchups.

Let's say you're one of the many fantasy football managers who drafted Los Angeles Chargers running back Omarion Hampton (ankle). Maybe you chose Cardinals RB James Conner (ankle). Perhaps you selected Titans tailback Tony Pollard. If you chose any of these players, you've probably been hurting at RB for most of the season. The same […]
The wide receiver position is just a little bit more forgiving than the running back position in terms of finding talent on the waiver wire. It's hard to find players that will be consistently good moving forward, though. Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans (collarbone), Green Bay Packers wideout Christian Watson, and Houston Texans […]
