Brock Bowers Injury Report: Will Bowers Play in Week 2 for Fantasy Football?

Kevin Tompkins' Five Football League Winners

Will Brock Bowers play in Week 2 for fantasy football? Is Brock Bowers injured or hurt heading into Week 2 of 2025? Read the latest Brock Bowers injury report.

Brock Bowers entered the 2025 season with the expectation of solidifying himself as one of the NFL’s premier tight ends. The former first-round pick wasted no time showing why, flashing his big-play ability in Week 1 and giving fantasy managers a glimpse of the dominant force they invested in.

That excitement briefly turned to concern when Bowers exited the game with an apparent knee injury. Any setback to the Raiders’ star tight end would have been devastating, both for Las Vegas’ offense and for fantasy teams counting on him as a weekly cornerstone. In his absence, second-year tight end Michael Mayer stepped in and hauled in four passes for 38 yards, hinting at his own potential if given more opportunities.

So what's Bowers' status for Week 2, and will he play? Read the latest Brock Bowers injury news and fantasy outlook below.

Brock Bowers Fantasy Football Injury Update

Bowers reminded fantasy managers in Week 1 why he was one of the most coveted players at his position during draft season. After a strong rookie season in 2024, the second-year star wasted no time showing off his elite playmaking ability, catching five passes for 103 yards in just three quarters before exiting with a knee injury.

His ability to generate chunk plays and keep drives alive was a major part of the Raiders’ passing attack, and his early performance reaffirmed his status as one of the NFL’s most dynamic young tight ends.

And then Bowers got injured (knee) and was forced to exit the game, causing some uncertainty for the Raiders and fantasy managers.

Fortunately, early Week 2 injury reports suggest Bowers avoided any serious injury and should be on track for Week 2.

With no lingering injury issues expected, fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief and confidently count on Bowers to lead lineups into a favorable matchup against the Chargers, who have struggled historically against athletic tight ends.

Is Brock Bowers Playing in Week 2?

Naturally, concern spiked when Bowers left the opener early, especially given his importance to both the Raiders and fantasy rosters everywhere. Losing a player of his caliber would have been a devastating blow.

However, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero quickly eased worries after the game, reporting that Bowers “is fine” and only “took a little hit on the knee.” He added that there are “no concerns moving forward,” which strongly suggests the injury was minor and precautionary.

That reassurance is great news for fantasy managers. Bowers’ ability to rack up yards after the catch, stretch defenses vertically, and create mismatches against linebackers and safeties is rare for a tight end.

With his injury scare already downplayed, he should be back on the field in Week 2, and there’s no reason to lower expectations. Week 1 was proof that Bowers is capable of producing top-tier numbers at his position.

Brock Bowers Fantasy Football Outlook for Week 2

Brock Bowers heads into Week 2 looking to build off a dominant opener that reminded everyone why he’s a top-tier fantasy tight end. After producing 103 yards on five catches in just three quarters before leaving with a minor knee scare, Bowers received positive reports postgame that he’s “fine” and fully expected to play.

The early connection with new quarterback Geno Smith was clear, as Bowers quickly became a go-to target on key downs and a reliable outlet when pressure collapsed the pocket.

This week, Bowers faces a Los Angeles Chargers defense that largely limited Travis Kelce to just two catches in Week 1, but did allow him to reach the endzone. While the Chargers have athletic linebackers and safeties, his elite talent will be an issue. His size, route running, and yards-after-catch ability give him a strong advantage in this matchup.

Expect the Raiders to utilize quick passes and seam routes to get the ball in Bowers’ hands, particularly to offset the pass-rush threat from Khalil Mack. His usage near the red zone also makes him a strong bet to find the end zone. Fantasy managers should confidently lock him into lineups as a top-5 tight end play this week.
