Brandon Aiyuk vs. Stefon Diggs - Who Should I Draft in 2024 Fantasy Football?

Brandon Aiyuk - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News

Should fantasy football players draft Brandon Aiyuk or Stefon Diggs during their 2024 fantasy drafts? Lance Fernandez examines the case for both wide receivers.

It isn't easy to keep Stefon Diggs and Brandon Aiyuk down throughout an NFL season. Somehow, they find ways to increase their numbers. Aiyuk's impeccable route running and Diggs' speed helps them collect receptions and receiving yards that put them among the game's best.

Last year, Diggs tallied his sixth consecutive 1,000-yard season, finishing with 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns for the Buffalo Bills. Meanwhile, Aiyuk earned a second-team All-Pro selection after finishing the regular season with a career-high 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns.

With both players facing uncertainty leading into the 2024 NFL season, who among them is the better bet for fantasy football?

Brandon Aiyuk Continues to Stay Away from 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers have exercised Aiyuk's fifth-year option, earning him a fully guaranteed $14.1 million for 2024. However, he's avoiding the team during mandatory minicamp while negotiating a contract extension.

If the Niners decided to keep him, they must be ready to pay a hefty price tag, especially after the wide receiver market's surge this offseason. Coming off an All-Pro season gives Aiyuk the leverage to negotiate for a deal that puts him among the highest-paid wideouts.

Otherwise, the 49ers must trade him, and they risk losing him after this season without getting anything in return. The trade package for Aiyuk is steep, considering he's in his prime.

How Will Stefon Diggs Blend in with the Texans?

Diggs signed a one-year restructured contract with the Texans, making him a free agent after the upcoming season. Therefore, the two-time All-Pro must prove he's still a productive wide receiver to earn another contract.

Doing so might be difficult because the Texans have several weapons around second-year quarterback C.J. Stroud. They have Nico Collins, who earned a three-year contract extension after a breakout season. Tank Dell is bouncing back from the injury that limited him to 11 games in 2023.

Since teaming up with Stroud, Dalton Schultz has become a reliable target. Houston also has a solid ground attack led by Joe Mixon and Dameon Pierce.

Go for Brandon Aiyuk Over Stefon Diggs in Fantasy Football

Since Aiyuk is still under contract with San Francisco, he will remain its top wide receiver, even if it has Deebo Samuel Sr., Jauan Jennings, tight end George Kittle, and rookie Ricky Pearsall.

Meanwhile, Diggs might experience a dip in his production because of all the targets Stroud has in Houston. He will have the occasional big game, but Collins will be the Texans' first option during passing plays.
