Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

5043 articles

You won't find a bigger Cubs fan than myself. Aside from my love of fantasy sports, which includes MLB, NFL and NBA, I own my own animal care business. I graduated from Columbia College in Chicago and currently reside in Chicago, IL. My love of fantasy sports started for me in the early 2000's and I have steadily been active with the same group of friends year in and year out for every league in baseball, basketball and football. I am hoping to help all RotoBaller members with any questions they may have. I consider myself an expert with minor league prospects, as it is a love of mine. I hope to give the best advice I can to the RotoBaller world!

Yonder Alonso Goes Yard

Chicago White Sox first baseman/designated hitter Yonder Alonso hit his first home run of the season on Sunday. Alonso finished the game 2-for-3 with three RBI and a pair of walks. Alonso is a good bet for a minimum of 20 home runs, but he is best suited for AL-only leagues at this time.

Lucas Giolito Has Strong Start To The Season

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Lucas Giolito had a strong performance on Sunday versus the Kansas City Royals. Giolito didn’t allow a hit until there was one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. Giolito finished the day by allowing three hits, two runs, one walk and striking out eight. Giolito could have some […]

Willson Contreras Gets Sunday Off

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras will get a routine day off on Sunday versus the Texas Rangers. Contreras picked up three hits on Sunday and remains a top-five option behind the dish. Victor Caratini will replace Contreras and bat ninth. Caratini doesn’t offer much upside outside of DFS and will face Lance Lynn, but DFS […]

Carl Edwards Jr. Fails To Record An Out

Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Carl Edwards Jr. failed to record an out on Saturday versus the Texas Rangers. Edwards walked two batters and allowed two hits, which included a three-run home run to Joey Gallo to give the Rangers the lead. Edwards is a good candidate for owners looking for holds, but it may be […]

Jose Quintana Pitches In Relief On Saturday

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jose Quintana made a rare relief appearance versus the Rangers on Saturday night. With starter Yu Darvish only able to go 2 1/3 innings, manager Joe Maddon decided to turn to Quintana over his bullpen arms. Quintana allowed two runs over four frames and gave up six hits, three walks and […]

Willson Contreras Picks Up Three Hits On Saturday

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras went 3-for-5 with a run and a pair of RBI on Saturday. Contreras had a poor second half in 2018, but remains a top-five catcher in fantasy circles. Contreras is now 3-for-8 to start the season.

Kyle Schwarber Goes Yard Versus Rangers

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber hit his first home run of the season on Saturday versus the Texas Rangers. Schwarber didn’t get the start on Opening Day, but that didn’t stop him from going yard on Saturday. Schwarber finished 3-for-5. Although manager Joe Maddon rarely will let him face left-handed pitching, Schwarber is worth owning […]

Yu Darvish Allows Seven Walks In Season Debut

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Yu Darvish struggled to find the strike zone versus his former team on Saturday. Darvish only lasted 2 1/3 innings and allowed two hits, three runs, seven walks and struck out four. Darvish had a nice spring, but that didn’t translate over to his first start of the season. Despite a […]

Reynaldo Lopez Struggles In Season Debut

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Reynaldo Lopez struggled versus the Royals on Saturday. Lopez allow four earned runs on six hits. He also allowed four free passes and only struck out two batters in four innings. Lopez pitched to a 3.91 ERA with 7.2 K/9 last season. He is still young enough to improve, but […]

Jose Abreu Goes Yard Saturday

Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu went yard for his first home run on the season on Saturday versus the Kansas City Royals. He finished the game 1-for-4 with three RBI. Abreu offers both power and average and is one of the most underrated first baseman in the game.

Yoan Moncada Off To Hot Start

Chicago White Sox infielder Yoan Moncada went 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and a pair of RBI on Saturday versus the Royals. Moncada has been off to a nice start this season and has four hits in his first eight at-bats. Moncada is a former top prospect and has always had the […]

Jon Lester Earns The Win On Opening Day

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jon Lester picked up a quality start and win on Thursday versus the Texas Rangers. Javier Baez Goes Deep Twice On Opening Day

Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez went 2-for-5 with a pair of home runs and four RBI on Thursday versus the Texas Rangers. Baez remains one of the better power hitting options at shortstop and is […]

Kyle Schwarber Left Out Of Opening Day Lineup

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber will be absent from the team's Opening Day lineup on Thursday. The Cubs will face left-handed pitcher Mike Minor and manager Joe Maddon does not like to deploy Schwarber versus lefties. Outfielder Mark Zagunis will replace Schwarber and bat ninth. Zagunis had a nice spring, but can be ignored outside […]

Eloy Jimenez To Bat Fifth In Big League Debut

Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez will bat fifth in his big league debut Thursday. Jimenez is one of the best prospects in the game and is a candidate for Rookie of the Year. Jimenez isn’t in the best lineup, but the potential is there for him to be a big contributor this year in […]

Ian Happ Will Begin The Season In Triple-A

The Chicago Cubs have demoted infielder/outfielder Ian Happ to Triple-A Iowa. Happ, 24, is a former top prospect, but his best chance for everyday at-bats will be in Iowa. Happ has a good chance to be promoted at some point this season, but the Cubs will not force the issue as manager Joe Maddon said […]

Bryce Harper Agrees To Terms With Phillies

According to multiple reports, free-agent outfielder Bryce Harper has agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Phillies. Cubs Send Tommy La Stella To Angels

The Chicago Cubs have dealt infielder Tommy La Stella to the Los Angeles Angels for a player to be named later or cash considerations. La Stella has made a career as a bench player and pinch-hitter.
