Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

5043 articles

You won't find a bigger Cubs fan than myself. Aside from my love of fantasy sports, which includes MLB, NFL and NBA, I own my own animal care business. I graduated from Columbia College in Chicago and currently reside in Chicago, IL. My love of fantasy sports started for me in the early 2000's and I have steadily been active with the same group of friends year in and year out for every league in baseball, basketball and football. I am hoping to help all RotoBaller members with any questions they may have. I consider myself an expert with minor league prospects, as it is a love of mine. I hope to give the best advice I can to the RotoBaller world!

Reynaldo Lopez Gets Lit Up

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Reynaldo Lopez continued his slow start to the season on Wednesday versus the Tampa Bay Rays. Lopez only lasted 4 1/3 innings and allowed 10 hits, eight runs, four walks and struck out five. Lopez now has a 12.15 ERA in three starts. Lopez has shown flashes of potential in […]

Jon Lester Lands On Injured List

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jon Lester (hamstring) has been placed on the 10-day injured list. Lester got hurt when he was running the bases and faced one batter in the following inning before being pulled on Monday. There is currently no timeframe as to when Lester will return. Tyler Chatwood is the likeliest candidate to […]

Carlos Rodon Walks Five On Monday

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Carlos Rodon walked five batters over 4 2/3 innings versus the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday. Rodon also allowed eight hits, four runs and struck out nine. It was Rodon’s worst start of the season, but the strikeouts were nice to see. Rodon will need to limit his walks to […]

Jon Lester Exits With Left Hamstring Tightness

Updating an earlier report, Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jon Lester (hamstring) left Monday’s contest early with left hamstring tightness. Lester looked good over two innings with four strikeouts, three hits allowed, zero runs and a walk. Lester is scheduled to face Mike Trout and the Angels this weekend, but that is no certainty at the […]

Ivan Nova Struggles Versus Mariners

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Ivan Nova got beat up by the Seattle Mariners offense on Sunday. Nova only lasted 2 1/3 innings and allowed seven hits, seven runs, one walk and struck out two. Nova should only be used as a streamer and will face a tough Yankees offense in his next start.

Kyle Hendricks Off To Slow Start

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks struggled again on Sunday versus the Milwaukee Brewers. Hendricks only lasted four innings and allowed eight hits, four runs, one walk and struck out four. Hendricks has struggled over his first two starts and now has an ERA of 6.48 over that span. Hendricks is normally one of the […]

Cole Hamels Goes Six Innings

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Cole Hamels allowed two runs on six hits and struck out five batters with no walks versus the Brewers on Saturday. The Cubs have needed a starting pitcher to go deep in a game and Hamels did the deed tonight. Hamels is a fine option in deeper mixed leagues. The lefty […]

Jason Heyward Does It All On Saturday

Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward delivered his best performance of the young season on Saturday versus the Milwaukee Brewers. Heyward went 3-for-3 with a pair of home runs, three runs scored, three RBI, two walks and two stolen bases. Heyward has been a major disappointment in his time with the Cubs after signing a mega […]

Victor Caratini Picks Up Three Hits

Chicago Cubs catcher Victor Caratini hit his first home run of the season on Saturday versus the Brewers. Caratini got the start behind the plate with Willson Contreras receiving the day off. Caratini finished 3-for-3 with two walks and three runs knocked in. With Contreras ahead of him on the depth chart, Caratini can be […]

Kris Bryant Goes Hitless

Chicago Cubs third baseman/outfielder Kris Bryant had a night to forget on Saturday versus the Milwaukee Brewers. Bryant went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts. Bryant looked healthy this spring and has been determined to prove the critics wrong after a tough 2018 campaign. The former National League MVP is hitting just .229 so far but has […]

Eloy Jimenez Gets Three Hits On Saturday

Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez picked up three hits in four at-bats versus the Seattle Mariners on Saturday. It was good to see, as Jimenez was struggling coming into the contest. All three hits were singles and Jimenez struck out in his other at-bat. Jimenez has yet to hit a home run, but it’s […]

Tim Anderson Picks Up Three More Hits

Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson stayed hot on Saturday versus the Seattle Mariners by going 3-for-4 with a home run on Saturday to raise his batting average to .500. Anderson has always been a streaky hitter, but with his power and speed combination, Anderson is a nice option at shortstop in mixed leagues.

Lucas Giolito Struggles On Saturday

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Lucas Giolito couldn’t build off his strong performance in his first start on Saturday versus the Mariners. Giolito only lasted 4 1/3 innings. Over that span, Giolito allowed six hits, five runs, four walks and four strikeouts. Giolito has showed potential in the past, but can be avoided in most […]

Willson Contreras Will Rest Saturday

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras will get a routine day off on Saturday versus the Milwaukee Brewers. Contreras has been off to a nice start this season and remains a top-five option behind the plate. Victor Caratini will replace Contreras and bat eighth. Caratini doesn’t offer much upside outside of DFS and will face Corbin […]

Mike Montgomery Lands On The Injured List

Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Mike Montgomery has been placed on the injured list prior to Saturday’s game. There was no injury given as to what landed him there, but Montgomery has struggled with a 16.88 ERA in just 2 1/3 innings. Montgomery has been reliable over the past few years as a starter and reliever, […]

Carl Edwards Jr. Optioned To Triple-A

Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Carl Edwards Jr. has been optioned to Triple-A Iowa. Edwards was one of the better relievers in 2018, before struggling down the stretch. Edwards hasn’t recovered since. Edwards has allowed six runs and five walks in just 1 2/3 innings over four appearances. The Cubs bullpen as a whole has struggled […]

Yu Darvish Allows Four More Walks

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Yu Darvish allowed four more walks on Thursday versus the Atlanta Braves. Darvish went four innings and allowed five hits, three runs and struck out two hitters along with four walks. Darvish looked good for the first three innings, but couldn’t keep it going. Darvish has a good track record, but […]

Steve Cishek Picks Up The Loss

Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Steve Cishek blew a two-run lead versus the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday to pick up the loss. Cishek just didn’t have command Wednesday and walked all three batters that he faced without recording an out. Randy Rosario replaced Cishek and allowed a bases-clearing double to Johan Camargo and all the runs […]

Willson Contreras Goes Yard On Wednesday

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras hit his first home run of the season versus the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday. Contreras finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs and a pair of RBI. Contreras has been off to a hot start and is now hitting .429 on the young season.

Jon Lester Performs Well Versus Braves

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jon Lester picked up a quality start on Wednesday versus the Atlanta Braves. The Cubs bullpen blew a potential win for Lester, but he pitched well enough to earn one. Lester went six innings and allowed six hits, two runs, three walks and struck out seven on the evening. Lester has […]

Yoan Moncada Stays Hot

Chicago White Sox infielder Yoan Moncada continued to swing a hot bat on Wednesday. Moncada went 2-for-3 with a home run. He also scored three runs, drove in two runs and drew a pair of walks. The most important part of his season has been that he has only struck out three times this year. […]

Leury Garcia Scores Three Times

Chicago White Sox outfielder Leury Garcia had himself a game on Wednesday. Garcia went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and a stolen base. Garcia is playing every day for the White Sox, but as a .241 career hitter with limited power, Garcia shouldn’t be considered outside of deeper AL-only leagues.

Carlos Rodon Has Strong Outing Versus Indians

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Carlos Rodon put together another strong outing on Wednesday versus the Cleveland Indians. Rodon allowed two hits, one run (zero earned), one walk and struck out nine batters. Rodon now has a 1.59 ERA over his first 11 1/3 innings and has struck out 15 batters over that span. Rodon […]

Tim Anderson Placed On Paternity Leave

Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson has been placed on paternity leave. Anderson was scratched from the White Sox lineup on Monday after his wife went into labor. He flew back to Chicago to be with her and will likely miss the next couple of games. Infielder Yolmer Sanchez has shifted from second base to […]

Ivan Nova Performs Well In White Sox Debut

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Ivan Nova went seven strong innings on Monday versus the Cleveland Indians. Nova was acquired from the Pirates this offseason and made a strong impression on his new club. Nova allowed six hits, one run, one walk and struck out four hitters. Nova is a fine option in deeper AL-only […]

Tim Anderson Scratched From Monday’s Lineup

Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson has been scratched from Monday’s lineup. Anderson’s wife is in labor and he will be flying back to Chicago to welcome his second child. Jose Rondon will replace Anderson and bat eighth. Rondon is nothing more than a dart throw in DFS on Monday.

Kyle Schwarber Goes Deep Again

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber continued his hot start to the season with his second home run in as many days. Schwarber offers plenty of power and even though manager Joe Maddon is very unlikely to let him face lefties, Schwarber should be owned in all formats.

Cole Hamels Struggles Versus Former Squad

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Cole Hamels struggled on Sunday versus the Texas Rangers. Hamels big dent was a grand slam by Delino DeShields in the bottom of the fourth. Hamels went five innings and allowed six hits, five runs, three walks and four strikeouts. Hamels will look for a better result in his next start versus […]

Alex Colome Records Save

Chicago White Sox relief pitcher Alex Colome picked up his first save of the season on Sunday. Colome didn’t allow a hit and struck out one. He is entrenched as the closer for the White Sox, however his save opportunities may be few and far between on a White Sox club that is not expected […]

Jose Abreu Remains Hot

Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu hit his second home run in as many days on Sunday. Abreu is off to a hot start and finished the game 2-for-3 with a RBI and two walks. Abreu remains one of the better options at first base in all formats.
