Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

5043 articles

You won't find a bigger Cubs fan than myself. Aside from my love of fantasy sports, which includes MLB, NFL and NBA, I own my own animal care business. I graduated from Columbia College in Chicago and currently reside in Chicago, IL. My love of fantasy sports started for me in the early 2000's and I have steadily been active with the same group of friends year in and year out for every league in baseball, basketball and football. I am hoping to help all RotoBaller members with any questions they may have. I consider myself an expert with minor league prospects, as it is a love of mine. I hope to give the best advice I can to the RotoBaller world!

Yoan Moncada Out Of Tuesday’s Lineup

Chicago White Sox infielder Yoan Moncada will rest on Tuesday versus the Cleveland Indians. Moncada hit a pair of home runs on Monday, but is 0-for-12 with ten strikeouts versus Tuesday’s starter, Carlos Carrasco. Jose Rondon will replace Moncada on Tuesday and can be avoided in a tough matchup.

Reynaldo Lopez Picks Up His Third Win

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Reynaldo Lopez went 7 2/3 innings on Monday versus the Cleveland Indians. Lopez allowed a pair of hits to Francisco Lindor, but no other Indian would get a hit off the right-hander. Lopez also allowed two runs (one earned) and struck out six batters while walking two. Lopez has had […]

Yoan Moncada Goes Yard Twice

Chicago White Sox infielder Yoan Moncada went 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs and two RBI on Monday. Moncada has cooled off since his hot start to season, but is still hitting .289 with nine home runs, 28 RBI and four stolen bases. Moncada isn’t far removed from being the games top prospect and […]

Eloy Jimenez Inching Closer To Being Activated

Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez (ankle) could return this weekend or next Monday says White Sox general manager Rick Hahn. Jimenez has been with the big league club and ran the bases the other day. The White Sox would like to see how the young outfielder responds over the course of the next couple […]

Carlos Rodon Will Have Tommy John Surgery

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Carlos Rodon (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery this week and isn’t expected back until the second half of next season at the earliest. It’s a shame as Rodon was off to a nice start this season and has fought numerous injuries throughout his career. Manny Banuelos has been pitching […]

Willson Contreras Will Sit On Saturday

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras will get Saturday off versus the Cardinals. It’s just a routine day off for one of the best backstops in the game. Taylor Davis will replace Contreras and bat eighth. Davis will face off versus Michael Wacha and is nothing more than a dart throw in DFS.

Anthony Rizzo Stays Hot

Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo stayed hot on Friday by going 3-for-3 with a walk. Rizzo hit a three-run bomb and it was his third straight game with a home run. Rizzo is now 10 for his last 21 with four home runs and nine RBI.

Kyle Hendricks Goes The Distance

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks threw an 81-pitch shutout on Friday versus the Cardinals. Hendricks was dominant and only allowed four hits (all singles) and struck out three on the afternoon. Hendricks also did not issue a walk in the contest. This was an encouraging start for both Hendricks and fantasy owners after Hendricks […]

Willson Contreras Gets Saturday Off

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras will have a day off on Saturday versus the Diamondbacks. Contreras has been off to a hot start and has hit .286 with six home runs and 16 RBI so far. Taylor Davis will replace Contreras behind the dish and bat seventh. Davis is nothing more than a dart throw […]

Tigers And White Sox Postponed On Saturday

Saturday’s game between the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers has been postponed due to weather. The game is scheduled to be made up on July 3. Scheduled starters Ryan Carpenter and Reynaldo Lopez are likely to be pushed back to Sunday.

Jon Lester Activated For Start On Thursday

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jon Lester (hamstring) has been activated from the 10-day injured list and will start versus the Dodgers on Thursday. Manager Joe Maddon said on Wednesday that Lester will be limited to around 75 pitches and with Lester facing a tough Dodgers lineup, owners may want to sit him out for this […]

Jon Lester Will Return On Thursday

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jon Lester (hamstring) will return from the 10-day injured list on Thursday. Lester had been absent for around two weeks with a left hamstring strain and will start against the Los Angeles Dodgers in a tough matchup. Lester is sporting a 2.57 ERA in three starts and should be rostered in […]

James McCann Knocks In Four Runs

Chicago White Sox catcher James McCann went 3-for-5 with a run scored and four RBI on Monday. McCann also hit his second home run in the contest. McCann is hitting .316 on the season, but with Wellington Castillo set as the everyday catcher, McCann can be avoided outside of DFS leagues.

Jose Abreu Drives In Five Runs

Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu drove in five runs and hit his fourth home run of the season on Monday versus the Baltimore Orioles. Abreu finished the game 3-for-6 and also scored two runs. Abreu has been off to a slow start, but fantasy owners shouldn’t panic as he has been one of […]

Eloy Jimenez Placed On Bereavement Leave

Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez will miss the White Sox upcoming series versus the Baltimore Orioles as he has been placed on bereavement leave after the death of his grandmother on Sunday. Jimenez is expected to return for the White Sox series on Friday versus the Detroit Tigers. Outfielder Nicky Delmonico will take the […]

Kyle Schwarber Won’t Start Sunday

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber will have Sunday versus the Arizona Diamondbacks off. It’s not surprise as manager Joe Maddon rarely lets the slugger face lefties. Schwarber has struggled early on, but owners should remain patient as he has enough power to be worth owning long term. Mark Zagunis will replace Schwarber and bat ninth […]

Jason Heyward Gets Sunday Off

Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward will take a seat on Sunday as the Cubs square off against Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Robbie Ray. Heyward has been a nice surprise for fantasy owners and is hitting .357 with four home runs, 11 RBI and three stolen bases on the young season. Albert Almora Jr. will replace Heyward […]

Brandon Morrow Could Be Shut Down

Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Brandon Morrow (elbow) did not recover well from his last side session according to manager Joe Maddon. Maddon said that Morrow could be in a “shut-down period.” This isn’t good news for the Cubs who could really use their closer back. Pedro Strop continues to be used as the Cubs closer, […]

Jon Lester Throws Simulated Game

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jon Lester (hamstring) threw a simulated game on Saturday. Lester was also doing agility drills between innings. Lester has missed one start thus far, but the hope has always been that he isn’t expected to miss much time. Lester has been off to a nice start with a 2.57 ERA over […]

Eloy Jimenez Goes Deep Versus Tigers

Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez hit his third home run of the season on Thursday versus the Detroit Tigers. The outfielder went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a walk. Jimenez now has three home runs on the season and is hitting .261 with eight RBI. Jimenez is just scratching the service as a big […]

Ivan Nova Gets Roughed Up

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Ivan Nova got hit hard on Thursday versus the Detroit Tigers. Nova allowed 11 hits, six runs, zero walks and struck out three over 6 1/3 innings. The rough outing raises his ERA to 6.23 on the season. Nova will look to get back on track versus the Orioles in […]

Lucas Giolito Placed On Injured List

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Lucas Giolito (hamstring) has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a Grade 1 hamstring strain. Giolito left his start on Tuesday early after injuring himself during a pitch. Giolito was dealing before his exit, but still owns a 5.30 ERA in four starts. Giolito is only expected to […]

Lucas Giolito Exits Early

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Lucas Giolito (ankle) exited Wednesday’s contest versus the Royals early. Giolito went 2 2/3 and allowed zero hits, one walk and struck out five before twisting his ankle and being taken out. More should be known on Giolito as the day goes on.

Ervin Santana Allows Three Runs

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Ervin Santana went five innings on Monday versus his former team, the Kansas City Royals. Santana let up all of his runs on home runs. Santana is now sporting a 9.00 ERA over his first two starts and will square off versus the Detroit Tigers on Saturday. Santana can be […]

Yu Darvish Picks Up First Victory

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Yu Darvish picked up his first win of the season on Monday versus the Miami Marlins. Darvish went 5 2/3 innings and allowed four hits, two runs, four walks and struck out eight. The eight strikeouts are encouraging, but Darvish needs to limit the walks to help fantasy owners. Darvish will […]

Javier Baez Picks Up Three Hits On Monday

Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez went 3-for-5 on Monday versus the Miami Marlins. Baez also knocked in a run and scored twice. The nice outing raises the shortstop's average to .288 on the season. Baez remains one of the better middle infield options in all formats.

Willson Contreras Goes Yard Again

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras went deep for the sixth time this year on Monday versus the Miami Marlins. Contreras hasn’t missed a beat on the young season and finished the game 2-for-3 with a walk, run scored and three RBI. Contreras remains one of the best options behind the dish in all formats.

David Bote Drives In Three Runs

Chicago Cubs infielder David Bote went 1-for-5 with three RBI on Monday versus the Miami Marlins. Bote doesn’t play every day, but he has hit .258 on the young season. Without having everyday at-bats, Bote isn’t worth a look outside of deeper NL-only leagues.

Jason Heyward Gets Friday Off

Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward will have the day off on Friday versus the Angels. Heyward has been off to a hot start and is hitting .351 with four home runs, nine RBI and three stolen bases. Mark Zagunis will replace Heyward and bat seventh versus Angels starter Tyler Skaggs. Zagunis has hit .333 in […]

Willson Contreras Will Sit On Thursday

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras will receive a day off on Thursday versus the Pirates. Contreras has been off to a nice start and the Cubs have been cautious early on to not overplay him. Contreras remains a top-five option behind the dish and should be back in the lineup versus the Angels on Friday. […]
