BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team PPR Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 11% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: It's been another heartbreaking year for Panthers fans, and of course those who drafted Christian McCaffrey for their fantasy teams. The stud running back can't seem to stay healthy these days, and Week 14 will be the first game for the Panthers after ruling CMC out for the season.
Earlier in the year when CMC went down, Chuba Hubbard mostly functioned in the same CMC role as a bell cow back. But in the later weeks of McCaffrey's injury, Abdullah started to ramp up with some work as well -- getting both carries and targets in the passing game. He saw four targets or more in four of the last five games, which is a decent amount for a running back.
We're not yet sure how the Panthers will deploy the two running backs moving forward, but the Panthers are expected to take a run-heavy approach. It's very possible that we see Abdullah carve out a larger role in the offense, especially on passing downs. That can make him an ideal waiver wire stash in PPR formats, or a low-end FLEX play this week.
With several teams on bye, and many injuries to deal with, some fantasy managers may be forced to start a more obscure RB this week. Abdullah could provide a decent floor, and may surprise with RB2 upside if things shake out in his favor or if Hubbard struggles. If you need more RB depth, go ahead and pickup Abdullah and see how this plays out. He could help your fantasy team in Week 14, and beyond.
