Jared Cook is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for tight ends. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 16 of the 2021 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 55% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: The presence of Donald Parham Jr. in Los Angeles' roster has impacted Jared Cook's production all season long. That, also, affected the fantasy GMs' views of Cook's upside and his rostership, which is still bordering the 50% at the end of the campaign. Last Thursday, though, Parham suffered a terrifying injury that although now we know isn't that bad as it truly looked, might very well leave Parham off the field for a week or, if the decision rested on me, probably ROS.
Cook is looking at a 25% possible increase of his playing time. The veteran has never dropped from getting at least a 42% snap share in any game this year while he's stayed on the gridiron for 56% of the Chargers plays. Don't rule out something nearing a 80% going forward. Cook, on a production basis, has been a TE2 most of this season averaging 7.9 FPPG on PPR leagues. The truth is, Cook has a low floor on a mid-height ceiling--nothing too crazy. He's had seven games of <6 PPR points, and seven more above that mark--five of those finishing with double-digit fantasy points.
It's now been four weeks in a row for Cook finishing in the TE2 realm after failing to do so in Weeks 10 and 11. Even the slightest of bumps in playing time/opportunities should see him reach 10+ PPR points in every game left on the schedule. Cook is seeing around 5 targets per game and catching 57% of those (not the greatest mark), but he finds it easy to score TDs (4 on the year already, two in the past four games) and comes off getting the second-most targets in any game this season last TNF with 7. Here's hoping Parham recovers well from his heavy concussion, but also that LA errs on the safe side of things, sit him ROS, and enables Cook to rack up goodies in the remaining three weeks of play.
