Fantasy Basketball Points League Waiver Wire Pickups - Week 6

Week 6 fantasy basketball waiver wire pickups, adds, and sleepers in points leagues for the 2020-2021 NBA season. Carson Reinhart recommends guards, forwards and centers to target through waivers or free agency in fantasy leagues.

Welcome to our weekly look at waiver wire picks up in points leagues!

More postponed games and teams not being able to field at least 8 players has been the current talk of the NBA. Will every team make it to 72 games this year? For some news about teams that actually played, somehow the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the star-studded roster of the Brooklyn Nets, not once but twice. The first full month of this NBA season is almost finished and as crazy as the year has been so far, and fantasy has been just as crazy. Players like Jimmy Butler, Jayson Tatum, and the whole Washington Wizard teams haven't played in a long time, maybe this week they will reappear.

Our staff at RotoBaller has great insight and daily columns on how to improve your squad and tips to make your team successful, so be sure to check them out! Now, let's get prepared for Week 6. All players in this article are rostered at 50 percent or less.

Points League - Waiver Wire Adds

Columns are written based on H2H Points Standard Size Leagues:

Darius Bazley - SF/PF - Oklahoma City Thunder (Rostered 43%)
Second-year forward Darius Bazley took over the starting job as power forward for the Oklahoma City Thunder after the Thunder traded away most of their former starters in the off-season. Coming into this NBA season, the Thunder were expected to be a team of young developing talents who are okay with losing games in the short-term. Darius Bazley, who didn't take the traditional route to the NBA as found himself with a big opportunity to grow with 29.4 minutes per night in the 14 games the Thunder have played this season. While Bazley is currently in a slump, he is the starter and will be all season long. He might not be the answer to help your fantasy team this week, but Bazley is worth an add on your watch list or a stash target for later in the season.

Kendrick Nunn - PG/SG - Miami Heat (Rostered 40%)
As the Miami Heat suffers from numerous injury and covid restrictions on players, second-year guard Kendrick Nunn earned the green light to take a larger share of the offensive workload. While Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, and Avery Bradley all miss time for various reasons, Nunn has found himself in the rotation and has provided an average of 32.1 fantasy points in the last four games. This might be the final week Nunn is a positive fantasy asset for the season since he previously lost playing time while the team was fully healthy.

Jeremy Lamb - SG/SF - Indiana Pacers (Rostered 32%)
After returning from an ACL injury that made Jeremy Lamb miss time after suffering the injury in February of 2020, Lamb erupted in his second game back. Scoring 22 points and grabbing 7 boards, Lamb provided 34.9 fantasy points after missing a good portion of time. Lamb's value rests in the hands of the surrounding Indiana Pacers and their health for the rest of the season. T.J. Warren is still out with a left foot stress fracture and newly acquired Caris Levert is missing time due to a kidney issue. Both of these players would take time from Lamb, but while they are out indefinitely Lamb can capitalize on the extra playing time.

Rudy Gay - SF/PF - San Antonio Spurs (Rostered 26%)
The San Antonio Spurs' bench has been quite a surprise as they have been a key part of the Spurs finding victories this season. Veteran Rudy Gay who is in his 15th season in the NBA and is averaging 24.32 fantasy points per game has been a crucial part as the secondary scorer in the second unit.

Jeff Green - SF/PF/C - Brooklyn Nets (Rostered 25%)
Since the acquisition of James Harden, the depth for the Brooklyn Nets has diminished. Jeff Green, who already had a decent-sized role before the trade, is getting extended value as a small-ball center with Jarrett Allen shipped out of Brooklyn. Green is averaging 22.2 fantasy points in the last four games with James Harden compared to his season average of 14.89.

Naz Reid - PF/C - Minnesota Timberwolves (Rostered 19%)
With star player Karl-Anthony Towns out for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Naz Reid stepped forward to secure the starting center spot. Towns is out with a dislocated wrist and has contracted covid, which should allow Reid to have a stretch of higher minutes and higher production games for fantasy. In the last three games without KAT, Reid has been averaging 6 more minutes a game and increased his season average of 22.46 fantasy points to 29.2.

Garrison Mathews - SG/SF - Washington Wizards (Rostered 0%)
The Washington Wizards have had their last six postponed due to not having enough active players to play. Nine players are dealing with injures or covid protocols under the league's health and safety measures. Three rotation guards including Russell Westbrook are listed as out, leaving minutes for Garrison Mathews to pick up. Mathews was averaging 25 fantasy points before the streak of postponements and will look to continue the hot streak if and when the Wizards are forced to play with this injured lineup. The Wizards could potentially have four games for this upcoming week if they can field a roster, and Mathews would play a big role until the roster is fully healthy.
