Daily Fantasy Baseball Streamers - MLB Hitter, Pitcher Lineup Picks for Wednesday 8/5

Top daily fantasy baseball streamers and waiver wire adds for 8/5/20. Dave Swan identifies MLB hitters and starting pitchers to stream based on matchups.

With many leagues switching to daily transactions, streamers are in high demand. Wednesday's schedule has just what you're seeking.

In today's article, the hitting streamers will focus on a hot-hitting catcher, a youthful outfielder on the rise, and a utility player forced into full-time action. On the other side, the pitching streamers are three pitchers that aren't pitching at home with favorable matchups.

When choosing my daily hitter streamers, I examine their platoon splits, lineup position, and pitching matchup. With pitchers, I account for the opposing lineup, team ballpark, and recent performance to help make my decision. Each of my streamers will be rostered in between 0-40% of Yahoo leagues, with a mixed focus on both shallow and deeper formats. Let’s take a look at the Monday slate and dig out some streamer gems to help you start the week off on the right track.

Hitter Streamers for 8/5

Travis D'Arnaud (C/1B, ATL, RHB) - 30% Rostered

Matchup: vs. TOR LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu

Travis d'Arnaud is swinging a hot bat to start 2020. In only four games, d'Arnaud has three extra-base hits and two multi-hit affairs. He faces off against struggling left-hand pitcher, Hyun-Jin Ryu. It has been a very shaky start to Ryu's season as he is yet to make it out of the fifth inning and holds an 8.00 ERA. d'Arnaud is a strong hitter against left-hand pitching with a .256/.322/.452 career slash line. d'Arnaud a terrific pickup for the Yadier Molina owner.

Sam Hilliard (OF, COL, LHB) - 19% Rostered

Matchup: vs. SF RHP Logan Webb

Anytime games get playing in Coors Field, you need to look for favorable platoon matchups. Hillard batted .298 at home last year and thrived against right-hand pitching. Logan Webb has a career 7.52 K/9 and 3.42 BB/9 against left-handed batters. Hillard will hit in the back end of the Rockies lineup and see plenty of opportunities with men on base. If he makes the starting lineup, he is a must stream.

Jon Berti (3B/SS/OF, MIA, RHB) - 11% Rostered

Matchup: @ BAL RHP Alex Cobb

The plan for Berti was to plug him all over the field as a super-utility player. Due to the rash of players ending up on the IL, Berti is firmly planted in the infield. Berti is a burner, featuring an elite 29.8 ft/s sprint speed. Last year he swiped 17 bags in only 287 plate appearances. If he can continue to bat in the two-hole and get on base, he could be a prime candidate to pick up stolen bases. Baltimore's catcher today will likely be Chance Sisco, who had the fifth-worst pop time in the MLB and a below league average arm rating.

Pitcher Streamers for 8/5

Randy Dobnak (RHP, MIN) @ PIT - 9% Rostered

This evening Dobnak draws the Pirates. They have the ninth-worst K% and a terrible BB%. The Pirates collectively as a team this season are only hitting .168 against right-hand pitching. Dobnak does a great job mitigating damage and has only allowed one earned run through nine innings pitched. He may not strike out a ton of batters, but the Twins are the heavy favorites, and there's a high chance he picks up the win.

Kyle Gibson (RHP, TEX) @ OAK - 8% Rostered

The Athletics will be at home to face Gibson. They have struggled mightily to make contact this year. Oakland is a streamer's dream, as they carry a top-10 K% and a .204 team batting average. Outside of Matt Olson, there is no left-handed hitter to fear in the Athletics lineup. Gibson went five innings in his first start but ran up his pitch count due to walk issues. If he can clean up the control problems, this could be a solid outing for Gibson to pick up the win.

Alex Cobb (RHP, BAL) vs. MIA - 8% Rostered

Including last year's abysmal showing, Cobb has a 3.84 ERA in nine seasons. Cobb gets walloped, which can be a little scary when trying to stream him. He has done a much better job this year keeping men off the bath paths. Cobb currently holds a 1.18 WHIP and 2.89 ERA in a little over nine innings pitched. Miami had to promote a few players off the taxi squad that may not be ready to face MLB-level pitching. This stream could be an excellent option for a win if the bats show up to support.
