LPL/CBLOL DFS Picks for 5/2/20: DraftKings, FanDuel League of Legends Daily Fantasy

Brian McKendry's League of Legends (LoL) DFS advice and DraftKings, FanDuel lineup picks for LPL and CBLOL slates on 5/2/20. His top LoL value plays and eSports DFS recommendations.

Welcome back RotoBallers to my League of Legends DFS column! We will continue to extend our analysis for LoL DFS across different leagues and sites, bringing you the insight you need to succeed. We only have a few slates left, so get in on all the LoL action you can until we have over a month off from LoL DFS contests!

After LPL finishes its spring playoffs, there will be no overnight League of Legends for us to sweat until mid-June. DraftKings has paired up the LPL finals with the CBLOL semi-finals for a three-game slate spread over two days, while FanDuel is going to run a single-game contest for the LPL finals.

Today, I'll be providing my League of Legends advice, analysis, and picks, for this two day LPL/CBLOL combo slate on DraftKings and the single-game LPL contest on FanDuel that lock at 5:00 AM on Saturday, May 2, 2020. Make sure you are also following me @Grownfool on Twitter!

LPL Finals - Saturday, 5 AM

Top Esports (115) vs JD Gaming (-160)

JDG has not lost a game let alone a match since Zoom came out of quarantine. For TES, this match hinges on JackeyLove. If JackeyLove plays as well he did against WE, TES will be hard to beat.

QuiQui is starting at SUP for TES in place of yuyanija. QuiQui has only started in one of the five matches since JackeyLove joined the team so there's some sub risk. This match could easily go the full five games as both teams have dominated the competition with their current lineups.

Prediction: JDG wins 3-2

Top TES Stack:

  • Knight - MID ($7200 DraftKings/$13000 FanDuel)
  • JackeyLove - ADC ($7200 DraftKings/$15500 FanDuel)
  • Karsa - JNG ($6400 DraftKings/$10500 FanDuel)

Top JDG Stack:

  • Loken - ADC ($7800 DraftKings/$16000 FanDuel)
  • Kanavi - JNG ($7200 DraftKings/$14000 FanDuel)
  • Zoom - TOP ($6400 DraftKings/$12000 FanDuel)

CBLOL Semifinals - Saturday, 12 PM

Vivo Keyd (-220) vs KaBuM! e-sports (160)

VK is the top seed and the oddsmaker's favorite but lost their season series with KBM. VK already had the top seed locked up before their week nine game against KBM. Caos, their substitute JNG, got the start over Grell, one of the top JNG in CBLOL.

In their week 7 game, KBM dominated with 30 kills to VK's 11. KBM also dominated the objectives as VK did not get a single dragon or baron. The best chance for an upset between the three games is KBM.

The played three very bloody games this split, so this series has a lot of potential for fantasy points. I think we could see the winner of this series in the GPP-winning lineups.

Prediction: KaBum upsets Vivo 3-2.

  • TOP KaBuM! Stack:
  • Tutsz - MID ($6800 DraftKings)
  • Parang - TOP ($5800 DraftKings)
  • Wiz - JNG ($6400 DraftKings)

Top Vivo Stack:

  • Klaus - ADC ($7400 DraftKings)
  • NOsFerus - MID ($7000 DraftKings)
  • Grell - JNG ($6800 DraftKings)

CBLOL Semi Finals - Sunday , 12 PM

Flamengo Esports (-400) vs FURIA Uppercut (270)

FLA won the series with FUR with the team on the blue side winning each game. The blue side advantage is less of a factor in a best of five series. FLA has appeared in three straight playoff finals and has a good chance of making it four straight.

FUR was 8-3 on the blue side this season. If FUR starts the match on the blue side, they could pull off an upset, or we could see the match go the full five games. I like the favorite Flamengo here to take this series and they make for a solid stack on this slate

Prediction: Flamengo 3-1

Top FLA Stack:

  • Absolut - ADC ($7600 DraftKings)
  • Goku - MID ($7600 DraftKings)
  • WooFe - TOP ($6600 DraftKings)

Top FUR Stack:

  • Anyyy - MID ($6600 DraftKings)
  • Alternative - ADC ($6600 DraftKings)
  • Minerva - JNG ($6200 DraftKings)

DFS Lineup Strategy

A three-game slate is a welcome return to DraftKings late nites as it gives you more strategy options. The popular play will likely be a four stack of the winner of the LPL match. DraftKings has not had many CBLOL contests so the LPL is the more familiar league.

The CBLOL teams have a higher average kills per game with the upside for 25 or even 30 kills in a game. One of the LPL games could easily end with single-digit kills for both teams. CBLOL teams should be considered for four stacks and stacking the winners of both CBLOL matches is definitely in play.

A three-game slate also gives you more options to differentiate your lineups by style. In addition to popular styles like 4/3 and 4/2/1, 3/3/1 is viable as is 3/2/2 if you really want to get weird. Other potential ways to differentiate your lineup are to include TEAM as part of a four stack, or a position player as a one-off instead of TEAM. It's usually better to pay up for MID, JNG, or ADC as a one-off.

ADC or MID are the best positions to use as CPT. JNG is also viable for salary savings. TOP and SUP are usually only viable as part of a four stack when you are stacking two heavy favorites.

FanDuel has single-game contests for the LPL finals match. In a best of five match, optimal lineup construction is usually 4/1 (four from the winning team and one from the loser). The match would likely have to go the full five games for a 3/2 lineup to be optimal.

Winning lineups will almost always have a MID or ADC at MVP. An elite JNG or TOP can also be optimal at STAR. It is almost always better to pay up for a JNG, MID, or ADC. SUPs and TOPs on losing teams are prone to high deaths without the kills and assists to balance them out.
