FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (5/2/19): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

juan soto fantasy baseball rankings outfield MLB injury news

Nate Duffett highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 5/2/19, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

We have eight games on tap today, with the action starting at 12:10 PM. We will dive into games from the all-day slate.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel on 5/2/2019. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

You can also read more DFS lineup picks for DraftKings and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @Roto_Nate.

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Noah Syndergaard: NYM vs CIN ($9,000)

Syndergaard enters today's game at a low price relative to his talent due to an unsuccessful start to the season. When you see him at this low of a price, I think it is important to not overthink things. He will be matching up against the second-worst team in the league against right-handed pitching. The Reds are batting .211 vs RHP this season and have been sat down on strikes 206 times in 850 plate appearances. I would expect a high strikeout performance with a strong probability of victory in today's matchup.

Mike Foltynewicz: ATL vs SD ($9,200)

There aren't too many pitchers that I feel strongly about today. If I had to choose one guy other than Syndergaard that I would have exposure to it would be Foltynewicz. Unfortunately, this is just his second start after being sidelined with an injury, so we only have one average performance to go by for this season. He faces off against the fourth-worst team against right-handed pitching so far this season in the Padres. They have an abysmal .220 AVG and 27.2% K% this season so I can see the opportunity for Foltynewicz to succeed in this matchup.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Matt Adams: 1B, WSH vs STL ($3,100)

Until he proves otherwise, I will continue to attack Dakota Hudson with left-handed hitters. He has struggled this season allowing a .534 wOBA and seven home runs to go along with a .411/.493/.839 slash line. Adams has also excelled against right-handed pitching to the tune of a .333 wOBA with a 50% Hard Hit Rate. This Hard Hit Rate combined with the 52.3% Rate for Hudson can create some fireworks this evening at Nationals Park.

Robinson Cano: 2B, NYM vs CIN ($3,200)

I find it hard to believe that we can get Cano at this low of a price when I look at his numbers against right-handed pitching this season. He enters today's game with a .362 wOBA and nine home runs with a 43.6% Hard Hit Rate so far this season. These stats alone make him worthy of a look, but when coupling them with Tyler Mahle's .421 wOBA and 54.8% Hard Hit Rate against left-handed hitting should make Cano a must play.

Hunter Dozier: 3B, KC vs TB ($4,100)

Dozier has burst onto the scene this season as a main cog in the Royals lineup. He has a .310/.355/.460 slash line so far this season against right-handed pitching to go along with a 45.2% Hard Hit Rate. His opponent Charlie Morton has been having a good season to this point, but the Royals have been one of the better teams against right-handed pitching this season, and this could be a spot where they challenge him and chase him early.

Dansby Swanson: SS, ATL vs SD ($3,300)

Swanson's bat has finally shown this season why he was worthy of a top pick in the 2015 draft. After a tough couple of years at the plate, he has exploded this year against left-handed pitching with a .364/.444/.727 slash line. He also boasts a .469 wOBA with a 45.0% Hard Hit Rate. He faces off against Padres pitcher Matt Strahm tonight, who has allowed a 44.4% Hard Hit Rate against right-handed hitters.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Juan Soto: OF, WSH vs STL ($4,300)

In sticking with the left-handed hitter theme against Hudson, I have also marked Soto as a lock for my lineups. Soto has had outstanding success against right-handed pitchers over his first two seasons. He comes into the game with career numbers of .219 ISO, 18 home runs and a .393 wOBA. Hudson should have a tough time getting him out tonight.

Teoscar Hernandez: OF, TOR at LAA ($2,700)

The knock on Hernandez in his first two seasons with the Blue Jays was his propensity for swinging at pitches outside the zone and racking up strikeouts. He has matured as a hitter this season and lowered his K% to 12.9%. This increase in plate discipline has helped him against left-handed pitchers as he comes into this game with .308/.387/.538 slash line while boasting a .374 wOBA. Tyler Skaggs has struggled against right-handed hitting allowing a .333 wOBA so far this season. The Blue Jays are one of the best teams in the league against left-handed hitting and I expect Hernandez to be a big part of their offensive output tonight.
