FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (3/10/19): Daily Fantasy Hockey

We have a 4-game slate tonight where there are several teams in action who are in the playoff hunt, so no rest for them as the season comes to an end. You should be looking at teams in higher over-under games, due to the potential for plenty of scoring.

Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually, 6 goals are average, so target games at 6.5 or higher, and can look for goalies in games with a total at 5.5 or lower.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 3/10/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @ChrisWasselDFS. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Nicklas Backstrom - C, WSH vs WPG (FD - $6,800, DK - $6,000)

Backstrom's price has remained pretty steady on FanDuel and DraftKings, so you should consider him for tournaments tonight since he brings solid point potential. He is facing off against the Winnipeg Jets, who are allowing nearly 12 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes since January 1, which is the fifth most in that time frame. Also, Winnipeg is missing half of its six regular defensemen. This should put the Capitals in a spot to score plenty of goals, which is indicated by the 6.5 over-under. Backstrom is on the second forward line and the first power-play unit, which is expensive to stack but on a 4-game slate, there are still enough discount options to make most any stack viable. Devin Shore and Sam Steel are a bare minimum punt from Anaheim which could be considered to help afford the higher=priced plays on Sunday.

Johnny Gaudreau - W, CGY vs VGK (FD - $7,400, DK - $6,500)

There are some noteworthy things when it comes to Gaudreau tonight in this matchup. First off, he is lower priced than usual across the industry. Getting exposure to Calgary at home which scores 4.03 goals per game is always a smart idea. Gaudreau struggling of late (just six points in his last ten games and one goal) indicates the potential to buy low. Calgary's power play executes at nearly 23% at home. The Golden Knights often get themselves in trouble against teams who can find the backdoor passes quickly. Few teams are better at that than the Calgary Flames. Gaudreau is especially adept at finding the open targets and could take advantage of a tired Vegas team.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Travis Hamonic - D, CGY vs VGK (FD - $4,000, DK - $4900)

Hamonic is still TOO CHEAP across the industry tonight and is riding a nice run of exceeding value (three of last four games), which should almost certainly continue tonight given how soft the matchup is. He is facing off against a not rested Vegas team that will try to get shots to the net. This provides a great opportunity for Hamonic and the Flames to outperform salary since he is so cheap and has a very advantageous matchup you should be looking to attack. The biggest reason to attack is Hamonic's ability to block shots. He has 11 blocks in his previous two games alone. Again, that FanDuel price is especially low.

Nathan Beaulieu - D, WPG vs WSH (FD - $3,600, DK - $2,600)

Beaulieu is a near minimum priced option at defense today and will likely stay on the top defensive pairing for the Jets. The good thing is that Beaulieu does not get tired (plays a maximum of 21 minutes). He does not play on the power play, however. Beaulieu comes in with two assists in his last four games and has five shots on goal in that span. We should see plenty of offense here and if you are looking to do a game stack, you will need some savings at some point. Winnipeg just went into Carolina and scored eight goals on Friday night. Washington also allows 12.88 high-danger chances per 60 so opportunities will be there from the point even. Again, the defenseman provides price relief on all platforms. This allows one to spend up to Mark Giordano or John Carlson.

DFS Goalies to Consider

John Gibson - G, ANA vs LAK (FD - $7,400, DK - $7,700)

Gibson is one of the best goalies in the league who typically is under siege most nights and still has a decent record to show for it. The Ducks have looked better defensively since Randy Carlyle was fired. Tonight may be one of the few times where Gibson has a good matchup against a Kings team that averages 2.09 goals per road contest. The over-under is just 5 1/2 which is typically a good spot to look for goalies. Gibson enjoyed quality starts in three of his four games since returning from injury and wisdom teeth extraction. His upside is elevated on FanDuel especially because of the cheaper price.  The Anaheim goalie is the second cheapest on the slate and faces a Kings team which is not rested.
