FanDuel DFS Risers/Fallers for Week 21

Pierre Camus analyzes FanDuel DFS risers and fallers - NBA players whose DFS prices have fluctuated & can be daily fantasy basketball sleepers, fades & values.

Welcome back, RotoBallers. Today I'll be taking a look at the Week 21 DFS risers and fallers for FanDuel lineups and daily league games. Player values are constantly moving targets in daily leagues. A high profile player can put together a couple of big games and see his price tag skyrocket. Likewise, a couple of bad games can lead a player's stock to plummet. The correlation isn't always immediate, leading to some discrepancies in value.

Savvy DFS players can take advantage of falling values and avoid inflated prices to find the best value on a given night in the hopes of increased success. In this article, I will identify players whose anticipated value relative to their current price is on the rise, making them desirable targets. I will also name players whose value is dipping below their cost, making them players to fade.

Note: I will only be selecting players who are owned in at least 75% of Yahoo! leagues. Graphs are taken from SportingCharts.com's NBA Daily Fantasy Value Tracker and are indicative of values on 3/14/17.

FanDuel Value Risers - Week 21

Marvin Williams (SF/PF, CHA) - Williams is a player that doesn't get a lot of attention in fantasy circles, but he's quietly having a monstrous second half of the season. He set a career high with 18 boards on Friday and then did it again three days later. He has gone double-digits in rebounding four of the last five games. Injuries have forced the Hornets to lean on him more than usual, so ride this hotstreak while he's steadily dishing out 7x value.

Tobias Harris (SF/PF, DET) - Harris has been rolling along lately, churning out 5x value or better in six straight games. His first couple of games this week aren't ideal matchups, against Utah and Toronto, but Phoenix and Brooklyn await on the 19th and 21st. At $5,600, he represents a low risk player that could help you in tournament games.

D'Angelo Russell (PG, LAL) - First, the disclaimer about trusting young point guards. Russell has been stepping up his game since Lou Williams was traded, but he's still far from a model of consistency. Russell scored 22 and 28 points in back-to-back games last week, but then dropped to 11 and 10 the next two. Coach Luke Walton's decision to play him off the bench probably had something to do with it, but don't look for that to last long. He's got a chance to keep building value in games against Houston and Milwaukee in the next couple of days.

Victor Oladipo (SG, OKC) - Another rebound from injury leads to another chance for sneaky value with Oladipo. It's not awfully reassuring that he keeps missing chunks of time, but a salary that remains below $6,000 makes him a minimal risk given his usage (21%). He doesn't have too many breakout games (eight times above 5x value all season), so he is better used in 50/50 games.

Myles Turner (PF/C, IND) - It's tough to tell from his value graph, but Turner is starting become relevant again after a rough stretch earlier in the month. After scoring in single digits with no more than seven rebounds for four straight games, Turner has gone 15-8 and 17-12 the last two. He's a decent bargain at $6,300, although he's also better used in 50/50 formats.

FanDuel Value Fallers - Week 21

Jusuf Nurkic (C, POR) - If you played him against the 76ers last week, you were ecstatic with nearly 12x value returned. Since then, it's been downright ugly, including just two points on Tuesday versus the big men of New Orleans. Nurkic will occasionally feast off weak opposing frontcourts, but is barely above average the rest of the time. Upcoming road games against the Spurs, Hawks, and Heat definitely don't inspire much confidence.

Khris Middleton (SG/SF, MIL) - You'd think Middleton's stock would be rising as he works his way back from injury with more playing time and takes on more of Jabari Parker's shots. Instead, he's had consecutive bad shooting nights, with just 11 points in each of the last two games. His minutes have stayed above 30 most nights and he will continue to be involved heavily as Milwaukee fights for the playoffs, so wait until he shakes this off and his price tag drops before sending him out there next week.

Carmelo Anthony (SF, NYK) - In spite of a steadily declining salary, Melo's value kept dipping too. What doesn't show on the graph below is that Melo dropped 27 points against Brooklyn on Sunday, followed by 22 points, 13 rebounds in 41 minutes on Tuesday. Buying low on Melo in this case will cost you less than $8000, but that will only be good for one game. He's a safe bet against the Nets again on Thursday, but won't even see the court again until Monday and that comes on the road against the Clippers.

Anthony Davis (PF/C, NO) - Until his inhuman 46-point, 21-rebound night in Charlotte, Davis had been declining in value. The bigger concern is his ankle after he rolled it on Tuesday night. X-rays were negative, so the Brow should be back in the lineup soon, but you might want to pass when he faces Hassan Whiteside and the Heat. AD is a beast, but his price tag is tough to swallow if you have any doubts whatsoever about his value on a given night.
