Welcome to the Daily Fantasy Hockey (NHL DFS) lineup picks article for March 11th of the 2015/2016 NHL season. Each day we'll be providing you with a handful of forward, defensemen, and goaltender picks for DraftKings and FanDuel GPP and cash games.

Only five games are scheduled tonight, but luckily, some of the best teams will be in action. Pittsburgh, Chicago, St. Louis, Dallas and Anaheim will all present several players to target for fantasy purposes.

While there will be plenty of stars to choose from, the key tonight will be finding under-the-radar players to fill our lineup. Teams like Philadelphia and Columbus could offer some very valuable and sleeper players to target.

NHL DFS Picks for Friday, March 11th

A couple strategy notes. For cash game construction look for players who can contribute to your score when they are not providing offense. Examples are guys who take a ton of shots, defensemen who block a lot of shots(DraftKings). Also, look for guys who get powerplay time and especially Top 6 forwards. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury or just get a promotion and more ice time.

For large field tournaments (GPP's) you want to find payers who have multi-point upside and can grab double-digit fantasy points. To stack the most upside in your forwards, a common strategy is to punt the defenseman position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone. Try and look for a D-man who will be playing more PP time or might get a boost in overall playing time due to an injury.

Let's take a look at some solid plays for today's action.

Joni Ortio - Goaltender, Flames  (DraftKings - $6,800 FanDuel - $6,500)

Ortio certainly isn't an attractive fantasy option on most nights, but he gets an Arizona team tonight that's really been struggling. Plus, the netminder has been sharp lately, picking up wins in two of his last three games and not allowing more than two goals in each of his last five starts. Ortio made 24 saves in Wednesday's win over Nashville and will look to keep rolling tonight. It's definitely a long shot, but the price tag and matchup are too good to pass up.

Sidney Crosby - Center, Penguins   (DraftKings - $7,800 FanDuel - $9,700)

After a slow start to the season, Crosby has turned up his game. With 13 points in his last 10 games, he's officially on fire. The veteran center notched an assist in his last game and extended his point streak to six games. He averages less than three shots per game, but has a plus-11 rating, something that makes him even more valuable to players on FanDuel. A great matchup with Columbus awaits Crosby tonight, making him a very attractive option at center.

Boone Jenner - Center, Blue Jackets   (DraftKings - $5,100 FanDuel - $6,400)

Jenner is coming off a monster game Tuesday that saw him score a goal, dish out a helper, fire six shots, and deliver four hits. The 22-year-old has four points in his last three games for a total of 39 for the season. His previous career-high of 29 was set during the 2013-14 season. Jenner logs good ice time, likes to shoot the puck, and loves to dish out hits. Pittsburgh presents a tough matchup, but Jenner can help out in several fantasy categories.

Patrick Kane - Winger, Blackhawks  (DraftKings - $8,600 FanDuel - $8,600)

Kane is absolutely the best player in hockey right now. Drafting him will cost you, but it's worth it. Tonight's matchup with Dallas is sure to be a showdown, as both teams are tied atop the Western Conference standings with 88 points. Held pointless in his last game, Kane will surely be amped up for this one. With 90 total points, including 12 in his last 10 games, the star winger is an absolute fantasy beast

David Perron - Winger, Ducks   (DraftKings - $4,700 FanDuel - $5,800)

Perron was kept off the scoresheet Wednesday, but has been playing well with five points in his last seven games. He's up to 35 points for the season and has gained fantasy relevance since moving from Pittsburgh to Anaheim. He doesn't shoot a lot, or block many shots, but he does have 52 penalty minutes, with eight of them coming in the last six games. Perron is still available for a decent price and offers solid production as a winger.

Alex Tanguay - Winger, Coyotes  (DraftKings - $3,600 FanDuel - $5,000)

The veteran winger has wasted no time getting acquainted to his new surroundings in the desert. Before being traded from Colorado, Tanguay had 22 points in 51 games. After dishing out two helpers Wednesday, he has recorded five points in just four games with the Coyotes. The 36-year-old has a top-six role and is proving to be worth a look in DFS formats. Until he starts to slow down, go ahead and continue to enjoy his high production and low price tag.

Shayne Gostisbehere - Defenseman, Flyers  (DraftKings - $6,000 FanDuel - $5,300)

Ghost just keeps on putting up fantastic numbers during his rookie campaign. After starting the season in the AHL, it is safe to say that his roster spot is safe with the big club. With 37 points and a plus-5 rating, Gostisbehere has become a hot fantasy commodity across all formats.  The blueliner is coming off a two-goal game Monday against Tampa Bay, and has three points in the last four games. Both his price tag and ownership have skyrocketed over the past few months, but don't let that steer you away from him.

Seth Jones - Defenseman, Blue Jackets  (DraftKings - $5,200 FanDuel - $4,300)

Jones has enjoyed his move to Columbus and has quickly become the Blue Jacket's top defenseman. The 21-year-old has 15 points in 26 games with his new team and has started to show up on the fantasy radar. He's coming off a game versus Detroit Tuesday in which he dished out two helpers, finished with a rating of plus-1, blocked two shots, and had two hits. Jones skates well over 20 minutes a game and gets ample opportunities to put up points. His ability to produce in all fantasy categories makes him an ideal play for both DFS sites.
