Barry Leonard's DFS advice for 3/06/16. Daily Fantasy Hockey Lineup Picks and sleepers for FanDuel & DraftKings NHL cash games and GPPs.

Welcome to the Daily Fantasy Hockey (NHL DFS) lineup picks article for March 6th of the 2015/2016 NHL season. Each day we'll be providing you with a handful of forward, defensemen, and goaltender picks for DraftKings and FanDuel GPP and cash games.

Six games are on the docket for today, making for some decent options for your daily hockey lineups. With a good mix of superstars and value picks in action, it shouldn't be a difficult task to form a decent lineup today.

Some of the top players in fantasy hockey will be on the ice today. Dallas, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, and Chicago are all in acton and possess some very popular fantasy targets.

NHL DFS Picks for Sunday, March 6th

A couple strategy notes. For cash game construction look for players who can contribute to your score when they are not providing offense. Examples are guys who take a ton of shots, defensemen who block a lot of shots(DraftKings). Also, look for guys who get powerplay time and especially Top 6 forwards. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury or just get a promotion and more ice time.

For large field tournaments (GPP's) you want to find payers who have multi-point upside and can grab double-digit fantasy points. To stack the most upside in your forwards, a common strategy is to punt the defenseman position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone. Try and look for a D-man who will be playing more PP time or might get a boost in overall playing time due to an injury.

Let's take a look at some solid plays for today's action.

Cam Talbot - Goaltender, Oilers  (DraftKings - $7,000 FanDuel - $8,200)

If you are looking for a value pick in net tonight, Talbot is your guy. Despite playing on a struggling team, he has actually won his last three starts, and looked very strong in all of them. He made 35 stops his last time out during Thursday's shutout of the Flyers. The 28-year-old has allowed just two goals in his last three games. Today's opponent, the Winnipeg Jets, are ranked 20th in the league, averaging  2.6 goals per game. It's always a risk choosing a netminder on a bad team, but Talbot's recent play has earned him consideration as a fantasy starter.

Corey Crawford - Goaltender, Blackhawks  (DraftKings - $8,100 FanDuel - $9,700)

Crawford has the advantage of playing behind one of the best teams in the NHL. On top of that, he's actually a very good goalie. He's got 34 wins this season and brings a two-game win streak into today's game with Detroit, a team he stopped 31 of 33 shots against his last time out. It is tough to beat a team in back-to-back starts, but the 31-year-old has the skills to do it. If you have enough cap space to spend on a goalie, Crawford is the best one on the board today.

Connor McDavid - Center, Oilers  (DraftKings - $7,100 FanDuel - $7,200)

McDavid has been on a tear recently and has definitely been playing like the No. 1 overall pick that he was. He had a big game Friday, scoring a goal and dishing out a helper in the loss to Columbus. He's got a four-game point going with 10 points over his last 10 games. He's worth a start on both DFS sites and should be looked at as a top target at center today.

Sidney Crosby - Center, Penguins  (DraftKings - $7,700 FanDuel - $9,500)

With his two-goal performance against Calgary Saturday, Crosby now has three goals in his last two games and six points in the last three games. The star center enters today's matchup with New Jersey riding a three-game point streak. He certainly isn't afraid to shoot the puck, firing six pucks on net Saturday. He's got a plus-10 rating this season and makes a very strong fantasy play right now.

Anders Lee - Winger, Islanders (DraftKings - $5,100 FanDuel - $5,400)

Lee is coming of a two-point game Thursday, picking up a goal and an assist against Winnipeg. He's got a goal in each of the last two games and can be a very sneaky play for Daily Fantasy lineups. With just 29 total points, he often gets overlooked for fantasy lineups. The 25-year-old has been playing very well lately, firing six shots on goal and finishing plus-2 over his last two games. His price is decent and his ownership should be fairly low, so take a chance on Lee today.

Jesper Fast - Winger, Rangers  (DraftKings - $3,400 FanDuel - $3,800)

Fast hasn't been a huge fantasy producer this season, but deserves a look today with a smaller pool of players to choose from. He scored his ninth goal of the season in Washington Friday on his only shot of the game. He's got a goal and an assist over the last three games, his first points since a goal against Pittsburgh on February 10. He certainly isn't a reliable player in fantasy terms, but does have five blocked shots in the last three games and a rating of plus-7 for the season. Fast isn't the best play for cash games, but a low ownership number makes him a target for GPP contests.

Blake Wheeler - Winger, Jets  (DraftKings - $6,900 FanDuel - $7,000)

Wheeler was held without a point Saturday, but he recorded five shots on goal and finished with a plus-2 rating. He has been red hot over the past few weeks, racking up nine points over the last 11 games. Wheeler is a great fantasy play for both DFS sites, as he takes penalty minutes, shoots the puck a lot, and isn't afraid to block a shot. He averages nearly 20 minutes a game and gets plenty of opportunities to put up points. With a very favorable matchup against Edmonton, Wheeler should be considered a top player to target at winger today.

Ryan Suter - Defenseman,  (DraftKings - $6,100 FanDuel - $4,900)

Suter picked up an assist Saturday and enters today with a five-game point streak. All six of his last points have been helpers. He has quickly become one of the top defenseman in the league and has been a very reliable source of fantasy points this season. The blueliner won't rack up many shots, but he has a knack for blocking shots and sees ample time on the power play. Suter will cost you a lot of cap space for a defenseman on DraftKings today, but still has a very reasonable salary for FanDuel.

Alex Goligoski - Defenseman, Stars (DraftKings - $4,600 FanDuel - $4,000)

Goliogski registered two assists Friday night and brings a three-game point streak into today's tilt with Ottawa. He's not a big scorer, but has a knack for setting up his teammates, with 25 of his 29 points this season being assists. Despite not scoring much, he shoots the puck at a good clip and blocks a decent amount of shots. Those attributes make him a good play for DraftKings, and his plus-12 rating makes him especially valuable on FanDuel.
